22oz bottle that’s been in the fridge at least a year. Pours thick inky black with copious fluffy toasted brown head. Aroma is oaky roasty chocolate malts. Rich chocolate malts again dominate the taste, balanced by firmly bitter hops. Soy and slight yeasty notes in the finish. I don’t notice the sugar, maybe that’s just what got us to 10%. An excellent imperial stout, though none of the barrel-aged notes that you get in the better ones that have been, you know, aged in barrels.

From bottle @ Basement Beer Bar Juleølsmagning. Aroma of heavy maltyness, roasted and burnt malts, light hops, light smoke, brown sugar, chocolate. Black colour with tan head, mostly lasting. Light+ sweetness, moderate malt bitterness. Full body, creamy texture, malt roasted finish.

W aromacie uderzenie praliny czekoladowej, sporej paloności, szlachetnego alkoholu. Wszystko tak jak ma być. W smaku jeszcze lepiej.

Rich chocolate and roasted coffee aroma. Jet black pour with a froathy and creamy lasting beige head. Palate is smooth and creamy, medium body. Lightly sweet with a medium growing roasty bitterness in finish. Very nice beer and that price?! I’ll be getting a few more.

Poured from a 22oz bottle, 2010 vintage. Aroma is malty with balanced roast and chocolate notes. Some light phenolic spice with medium light dark fruit esters of plum and prune. A faint, faded hop note with some light oxidation character of honey and cardboard. A bit of alcohol spice. Pours black with a large, thick, mocha head that exhibits good retention as it recedes slowly. Medium lacing and moderately long legs. Flavor is moderately sweet with quite a bit of chocolate and a bit lighter amount of roast. Some light tobacco and leather notes. Moderate bitterness with a touch of ash. A hint of dark fruit and anise. Medium light alcohol spice. A light cardboard oxidation note in the finish. More dark fruit as it warms. Mouthfeel is medium full bodied with medium carbonation. Low, but present astringency with medium low alcohol warmth. Overall, an alright stout and it has held up surprisingly well with its age. I thought I had sat on this bottle for too long, but it?s still close to its fresh self. Nice malt character with balance of roast and chocolate. Good complimentary fruit and phenolic notes. A bit hot even with its age.
