I’ve been looking forward to this beer in a long time - ever since it was in the top 50. The beer is pitch black with a nice brown head. The aroma is sweet roasted combined with quite strong notes of chocolate. The flavor is slightly acidic with strong notes of chocolate as well as light notes of herbs and alcohol, leading to a very dry end with a very strong coffee presence. Nice.

Bottled@Pikkulintu, Helsinki. Close to pitch black colour, mediumsized beigeish brown head, some lace. Aroma is coffee, some caramel malts and also some licorice. Flavour is coffee, mild roasted notes as well as some slight toffeeish and licoricelike notes. Wellbalanced and quite nice. Alcohol isn’t showing off all too much.

2006 bottle. Opaque black stout. Soft palate. Rich creamy dark malt, just a little roastiness. Some lactose sweetness and a little well balanced hop counterbalance. Dry finish, more lactose sweetness and a trace of coffee in the aftertaste. Decent.
