| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 1, 2009 2008 bottle. Nice roasty pour with deep brown black and a thinned out mocha head. Almonds, marshmellows coffee and chocolate are all there to smell. A cornucopia of aromas are there and all of which are nicely toasted. The taste is a little more pronouced with a deep bittering roasty pined woodyness with a lingering drying echo which leaves chocolate, vanilla and faint sweetness. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 1, 2009 22 oz. 2009 bottle from South Bay Drugs. Pours near black with a small tan head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, roasted malt, brown sugar, hops, vanilla. Flavor is chocolate, coffee, roast, molasses, licorice. Full bodied, with a thick, somewhat oily mouthfeel. Overall, a very straightforward imperial stout. I like the name and label, though I’m not sure what makes this any more or less a Christmas beer than any other winter seasonal. waltersrj (33), Washington, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 30, 2009 Pours dark black...dark like the moon disappeared. Small tan head after pour. The nose is dark fruits, fig and cherry, roasted malt, chocolate nibs, and coffee. The taste is similar with vanilla and brown sugar as well. The palate is thick like oil and the aftertaste is warm and welcoming with a slight hint of booze and chocolate. Great winter impy ale! vtafro (475), , New Jersey, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 29, 2009 Great seasonal brew pours a deep black with a very small creamy head. Lots of flavor especially the chocolate malts that come through with some other christmas beer spices which usually Im don’t care for but are hidden. The roasted malty taste compiled with this make this a great brew. The finish is very mellow and better then the beginning. shawnm213 (934), South Bend, Indiana, USA

| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Nov 22, 2009 Bottle. 25.4 oz. (2009) Pours opaque black, with a gorgeous, yet fleeting amber-beige head. Aroma of spicy dates, sour grape, chipoltle pepper, chocolate, and hints of coffee, roasted malt, and scotch. Full bodied, yet not overpowering. The mouthfeel is smooth, soft, spiky, and inviting. Finish is incredibly well balanced; slow, strong, and warm. I expected good things from this brew and it surpassed them. This is a truly excellent Imperial stout. I will be grabbing a few of these to share with my family over the holidays. SledgeJr (2960), Omaha, Nebraska, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 20, 2009 In the bomber bottle from Whole Foods Oak Park IL. Pours black. As black as YOUR soul. Thick creamy sepia-colored head. Nice coffee aroma. Perhaps I’m jaded, but this is again exactly as billed: an IMPY stout. Does that make it worthy of the hallowed moniker of Christmas beer? Don’t get me wrong, I love the Imperial stout, but I’ve grown accustomed to having year-round access to them. Come x-mas time, I need craziness. I need something that either resembles grandma’s spice cabinet or grandma’s pine-scented floor cleaner. This neuveau adherence to style at holiday season has me worried. Am I the only one? Doesn’t any brewer have BALLS anymore?!?
