3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz. bottle from DA. 2008 Vintage. Pour is all black, with a small 1/2 khaki head. Small amount of settling. Aroma is stale espresso roastiness, dusty dark chocolate and some red wine notes. There is also a dried vegetable smell which is a bit off-putting. Taste is the roast coffee, sweet molasses maltiness, black licorice, red wine and some pine hoppiness to the finish. The finish is dry, and has a hint of soy to it. Palate is medium, featuring a quick finish and nice drinkability for a bigger stout. Alcohol is masked nicely. Thanks for sending this my way, Derek.

3.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours dark brown with nice full tan head. Smells very chocolately. Has a good flavor, sweet with a nice bitter backbone. Lots of carbonation, very roasty, yet balanced for a stout...bitter yet sweet. Good.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A very good imperial stout, and another bargain. Quite big all around: huge malts, full body, strong carbonation, and lots of roasted malts, and some coffee. Totally worth it for the price; hard to imagine a better stout for the price (I like it better than Stone’s IRS)
