Black pour with a a tall, creamy almond brown head that has great retention. Aroma of roast, smoke, chocolate, dark roast coffee, burnt sugar, spice, earth, pie spice, toffee, roasted nuts and pine and spicy hops. Flavor is full of spice, chocolate, coffee, roast and burnt toasted bread up front, then some pine, burnt citrus, toast, earthy wood, hints of fruit and maybe a tiny vegetal note. Heavy body, creamy, to slick entry, moderate, somewhat sharp carbonation, slick and dry, slightly astringent finish. The finish leaves something to be desired in the taste and palate, but it is pretty nice leading up to that.

650 mL bottle. Looks the part, with a nice brown head. The aroma doesn’t knock you over, but is not unpleasant. The flavour is fantastic - very roasty at first, and filling out and becoming more chocolatey as it warms. Fairly textbook, and more British than American.

Barwa: czarna, nieprzejrzysta nawet pod światło. Piana beżowa do brązowej, raczej drobno pęcherzykowa. Początkowo obfita, jednak dość szybko opada, ładnie oblepia jednak szkło. Wysycenie średnie do wysokiego.

Bottle sample thanks to Kraddel. Vintage 2009. Chocolate alcohol aroma. Strong chocolate flavour which is bitter, but softer in the aftertaste. I really like the aftertaste because the alcohol taste and strongness is gone and chocolate remains.

Bottle 2008 vintage - near black with moderate tan head. Super roast malty, chocolate, dark fruit, sweet malty, milk aroma. Same again in the taste, plus coffee and liquorice, with a long sweet and bitter finish. Full bodied, smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Well hid alcohol, warming on the way down. Very good Imperial Stout.

It’s a dream of a RIS, big bold roasted notes, blended with a warming amount of alcohol. Its medium to full in body, warms as its goes down. Pitch black in color.

Draft many times at Monks, Eulogy, and now Moriartys. Black pour with a full tan head. The standard version has big creamy espresso notes. Liquorice and chocolate as well. Nice full stout. Sweet, but less so than most Imperials. Molasses. Charcoal burnt marshmallows. Thick body. Well blended but not nearly as complex as the barrel aged versions. Still great stuff. Not as refined as the Mikkeller version but bigger and better.

65 cl bottle @ home. Pours black with a little sediment and a tan head that leaves some lacing. Aroma and flavour are liquorice, chocolate, roasted malt, and coffee - with a bitter finish.
