UPDATED: OCT 15, 2008 Bomber (9.0%) from Bev4Less. Pours a dark amber/ruby color. Very little carbonation. Sweet piney aroma. Some spicy hoppiness. Deep and rich. Smooth low carbonation mouthfeel. Slightly sweet up front. Followed by a rich malty flavor. Finishes with a bit of grapefruit peel bitterness. No alcohol is noticeable. Reminds me of something in the vein of AB, with a low carbonation.

22 oz bomber. Pours a translucent deep ruby amber with a smaller bubbly off white head that left sticky lacing. Aroma of fresh hops, pine, grapefruit, some orange, toffee, nuts, sweet nose, some dark fruits, some molasses and sweet malts. Flavor of toffee, nuts, earthy, pine, grapefruit, a little grassy, fresh hop flavor and a toasted malt finish.

22 oz bomber. Pours a hazy rusty brown red with almost no head( a small beige formation). Aroma of piney hops and citrus. Taste of biting piney hops with notes of citrus and a bit of toffee. Very nice. Has that classic west coast pine flavor to it.

Amber with a quickly dissapating light tan head. Aroma is pretty hoppy, with a little caramel, toffee, light vanilla. Taste is hoppy, with a nice sweetness, tea, caramel, light alcohol. Very mild for 9.2%

Bomber, 22oz recently bought locally. I think I might have falsely reviewed a similar PP beer a year + ago that I had a bottle of, but it was never bottled (Shark Bitten) this is Shark Attack double red. This is a good tasting, sweet and malty strong red. Tastes of caramel and molasses with a crispy balance. Very good beer and another winner from a consistently great brewery.

Thanks to toncatcher for this - bomber - pours a sticky-looking red, with a light soapy ring of foam - it’s got the highly sweet, sticky malt and assertive hop aroma of your typical California ASAs ( see, Double Bastard), with the moderate alcohol presence that I’ve come to expect from beers like this - however, the flavor does it’s best to set the beer apart from the rest - low carbonation enhances a slick mouthfeel - pretty sweet, but not sticky and cloying, with strong cherry character, and some warming spiciness that becomes even stronger in the finish, which is complimented by a moderate alcohol warmth - hops don’t become as potent as the aroma suggest, and they add more of an herbal quality that compliments the spiciness - the alcohol becomes a bit too potent as it warms, as does the sweetness - so it tries its best to avoid the pitfalls of the common ASA, but still winds up falling into a few of them.

Dark amber red poured from a 22oz bomb. Very little white head. Aromas of dark cherry, hops and maltiness. Deep bitter hops , a bit of spice, cherry, and alcohol. Great long lingering flavors and finish. Excellent brew!

UPDATED: MAR 16, 2008 22 oz recently bottled version. Port Brewing Shark Attack Double Red Ale. Kind of a lackluster appearance on the pour. Looks really syrupy, minimal carbonation and no head. Deep amber-brown color. Aroma is loads of caramel malts and grassy hops. Some citrus notes, nutmeg and toasted biscuit. Tongue-wrecking flavor with lots of hops bitterness and a mildly hot alcohol finish. Long lasting butterscotch and resiny hops on each sip. Pretty damn good, but it doesn’t seem fresh out of the bottle.

UPDATED: MAY 4, 2008 650 ml Bottle from Bev4less in Santee. This is the March 2008 bottled release. my Bottle says it is a double red ale. Pours a rich mahogany brown with amber accents around the edges. The head is small, khaki colored and soon recedes to 1/8 inch and holds. The aroma is big and bold with citrus, cascade hops and caramel. If you are in the mood for a big APA, this bouquet is a dream come true. The taste is also big and bold with a hops forward effect showcasing the cascade. Their biter sensation is everywhere providing complexity to a myriad of supporting flavors: caramel, walnuts, rye bread and musty peat. The mouthfeel is smooth, full and creamy with light carbonation. The Finish is long and sinister with lingering biter-sweet hops and caramel. Overall: This is a first rate brew, and it might age well, gonna’ go back and get an extra bottle for the cellar. Highly Recommended.
