COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Summer Pale Ale is our version of the iconic West Coast-style Pale Ale. Our brewer’s decided this beer should be all about the hops. Therefore, we brew it without any crystal malt. In choosing to brew a beer this way, we are left to focus solely on the expressive nature of the hops they choose for this beer.

22 ounce bottle. Slightly hazy orange color topped by a huge rocky off white head. Wonderful pine hop aroma. Bittersweet malt flavor upfront. The spicy hops take control and own it from here on. Another fine effort from Port Brewing.

Tap at Capone’s. Hazy gold with nice white head. Citrus/pine nose. Pine hop flavor, crisp, a bit astringent with malt battling for some recognition. Good quality. Not my top style but can appreciate this.

Draft pour at sheffields. Orange with white sticky head. Very dry and bitter taste compared to expectations. Ripe dirty aroma. Taste is fruity but bitterness rules here. I like it. Wife didn't (but usually would)

On tap at Lord Hobo. Slightly opaque burnt orange pour with a fluffy white head. Citrusy hop bouquet. Damn fine pale ale with big pine and citrus hop highlights. Well balanced with a big malty backbone. The body is huge for a pale ale. Tomme and those west coast kids kill it. Even their pale ales I find most satisfying. Good body and mouthfeel.

tape offering. bit too much harsh grapefruit. too bitter. some tropical fruit malt backing, but hops a bit too aggressive. hint of pine, resin. okay.

Crisp and clean from start to finish. Large white head with ringed retention around the glass. Grapefruit and lemon aroma that continues in the flavor. A lot of bite for a pale ale.

Pours gold into a shaker. Bright white head with good retention top hats and recedes to meringue surface. Weed and resin aromas. Sweet caramel and weed upfront turning to dry grapefruit in the lasting finish.

Bottled May 29, 2014.
Appearance: A huge dense off-white head erupts out of the clear and vibrantly orange hued body and sticks around with great retention.
Aroma: Bit of orange, mango and grapefruit, a bit floral. There’s a slight yeasty quality in the aroma, and a bit of a homebrew maltiness.
Taste: Crisp and refreshing with a noticeable hop flavor that is prominently oranges. The body is crisp and clean until the finish, which is a bit dominate by the malt that comes through sharply at the very end to throw this off a bit. Refreshing until the finish.
Palate: Medium bodied with filling carbonation, a bit overcarbed.
Overall: This was much better on tap last year. This year, in bottles, tastes like homebrew, pours like one, and is carbed like one. It lacks the professional refineness that should be associated with a top tier brewery.

Very tasty brew. Kind of a pilsner aroma up front but lots of hops in the end. Very bitter and quite dry. Another great beer for the hot days. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
