3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft at Fountainhead. Pours a slightly hazed saffron with sticky and lasting white head. Nose is West Coast. C-hops, citrus, some apricot. Wouldn’t be shocked if there was Citra in here. Taste is much the same, though a touch phenolic. Still, bone dry and good level of bitterness. Very nice APA.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draft on tap at Bavarian Lodge (Lisle, IL). Pours a hazy straw yellow, good haze, frothy offwhite huge head sits atop, laces well and stays fairly large. Aromas are a big dose of lemon rind, bready pale malts, some grapefruit and orange juice like citrus. Grass and florals are lighter but there, big lemony presence with a fresh hop vibe. Initial is lighter bodied but big on hop presence. A melange of lemon rind, oils, citrusy bite with grapefruit, florals and grass, a touch of gumball, dry florals. Bready malts are there but fall behind, displaying an impressive hoppy bite of fresh lemony citrus and grass. Really grassy and lemon, florals, bready dough and malts beneath. This is really nice for a Pale Ale.. And I’m not just sucking the Port/LA knob here. Fresh and lively, almost raw freshness of hops and grass.. Lawn bag or baseball field-esque. Lacing really is pretty, as lame as that sound. Finishes bitter and citrusy, dry and tasty. A winner fresh pale ale by Port. Aroma could use some more, but taste and appearance rue the day. Simple yet flavorful and synergy. Sometimes a fresh hoppy pale ale is all you need. Maybe this scored a point or two based on the workweek being over.. But then again, the beer before didn’t.

Lots of grapefruit in the flavor and a firm, but restrained bitterness. Dry and light crackery malt flavor. Nice balance overall. Medium-light body and quite drinkable.
