ElDuderino (136), Jamaica Plain, Massachusetts, USA Apr 22, 2009 On tap. Arrived with a cloudy golden body and a tall pure white head. Aromas of chewy pine and resin, very heavy. The pallate is light and crisp and the carbonation is just strong enough to wipe out (pun intended) and alcohol burn. Flavors of pine needles, oranges, citrus zest dominate with a dry bitter finish that really lets the hop flavors settle in. Much more zing than in a bottle. marchcow (664), Coralville, Iowa, USA Apr 18, 2009 Bright fruity aroma with a grape juice quality and a light sweetness. Good lacing and a nice bubbly head. Wheat and hops flavors with some cookie and cinnamon muffin. Creamy with a little coconut. Some sugar on the mildly rich palate. Well crafted and well balanced. Healthy tasting. Somewhat tropical and fresh. graham515 (420), Houston, Texas, USA Apr 17, 2009 Pours copper into the glass with a nice white head. Aroma is citrus and somewhat musty hops. Caramel fragrance present upon warming. Hop bitterness is on the front end, giving way to a clean malty finish. Nice lacing throughout with the 78 IBUs feeling very soft across the palate. Really well made beer, glad I was able to bring a bottle back home with me to Houston. sigma23 (217), , Maine, USA Apr 15, 2009 pours hazy copper with medium head that fades quickly. aroma is very floral hops, nice sweet malt, some citrus. drinks with a nice bitter bite upfront with lots of floral hops coming through, and no real citrus. bitter is cut by a real nice sweet malt back bone and finishing bittersweet. mabel (2530), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 13, 2009 [1932-20081231] 1pt6floz bottle. Sweet sweaty pine resin hops aroma with simple evergreen and lots of citrus undertones. Hazy, medium orange body with a medium-lasting foamy off-white head. Strong pine sap and citrus pips and bitter hops flavour. Medium-full body is quite bitter. Simple, strong and bitter, very drinkable, booze is noticeable but here it works in it’s favour.
(w/ jerc) Ethereal (1500), London, Greater London, England Apr 13, 2009 Bottle at City Beer, San Francisco, 28th March 09. Hazy amber. Lovely strong hoppiness that is not too harsh. A very effective IPA. thegreenrooster (1811), St.louis, Missouri, USA Apr 12, 2009 Pour is a cloudy with a big white head. Aroma is mostly pine hops and not much else. Flavor has your pine/grapefruit thing with a bit of dirty malts. A very serviceable IPA. Beardface (977), Eugene, Oregon, USA Apr 10, 2009 22 oz bottle from City Beer in San Fran. Dark orange pour with a murky off white head. Aroma is straight hop, big whiff of pine followed by a refreshing grapefruit/orange citrus smell. Flavor is much the same, not a huge malt presence, but the mix of the hops is very pleasing to the tongue. Man, do I love west coast IPAs!
