Pours cloudy apricot orange with a creamy, rocky head. Aroma of grapefruit and singular citrus. Palate has a nice thick feel to it, along with mild carbonation. Flavor has malt upfront, a fruity middle, and lingering hop bitterness at the finish. A very nice IPA, though it can be accused as bit indescript through the mid-palate. MrBunn (1522), Western, Pennsylvania, USA Mar 29, 2009 Bottle. Pours a slightly hazy amber with a very large frothy head. Aromas are lovely hops with pine, grapefruit, citrus, etc. Flavor is very nice mix of hops with enough malt to even things out and keep this from becoming a hop tea. Palate is nice and finish is bitter piney hops. Just a little bit thin at times.
csbosox (1076), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA Mar 24, 2009 22oz bomber. Smells great, strong citrus, strong light fruits, subtle pine, with a honeyish backing. Hazy orange color, smallish white head. The taste is resiny, citrusy, and slightly piney followed by a strong, but smooth bitterness. Pretty tasty. SudsMcDuff (1691), was CapeTown,SA-now Houston, Texas, USA Mar 24, 2009 amazing aroma, really ... good foamers ... marmalade colur .. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kI0q8KKHlus ... a tad muddled, the alcohol also sneaks through abit but cool... quite bitter .. good but... Hazy orange color, small white head. Aroma is strong hoppy, fruity: pineapple, apricot and strawberries, also a bit piney. Full-bodied for this strength. Very fruity (apricot), resiny hops with backing pale malts. Long bitter and fruity aftertaste. Nice balance between hops and malts, good one for hop heads. Rciesla (3510), Exit 15W, New Jersey, USA Mar 23, 2009 Bottle. Pours a golden orange body with a white head. Mmm this should be called hop juice, lots of citric, fruity, pineapple notes. Some light hoppy acidity and spicy hop resins almost a bit like pepper with a sharp bite. Finishes with a dry grapefruit body. Best served very fresh. Pawola22 (676), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Mar 20, 2009 22oz bottle. Pours a bright orange body with a slight haze. Finger-width, fluffy, white head that dissipates slowly and leaves a light, soapy lacing. Aroma is very straightforward, but loaded with sweet, floral grapefruit hops. I love the smell of fresh amarillo hops. Some biscuit malts in there as well, but mainly that perfume of amarillo. Flavor is straightforward as well and obviously dominated by a moderate grassy hop, but remains lightly sweet throughout. Distinct light-sugary grapefruit starts slightly tart, then balances nicely with a light malted middle, before finishing dry, resiny, and grassy. Lots of lingering hops. Palate is fairly light and pretty clean for such a hop bomb. I think any more body would take away from the "sessionability." Overall, a really easy drinking IPA with loads of flavor. Very bitter, but never gets excessive. Keeps a pleasant, faint sweetness that just barely distracts the grassy hops from becoming overpowering. California sure knows how to please a hop head.
