4.7 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
hazy yellow colour, huge, extremely long lasting dense off-white head; perfect aroma of pine resin, grapefruit, hints of honey, earthy yeast and slight alcoholic notes; taste of intensive hoppyness: pine resin, citrussy notes and huge amount of bitterness; though bitterness is really significant, maltyness is also present; excellent IPA, one of the best, I’ve ever tasted

Smooth IPA, very fizzy and frothy out of the bottle but not so much once you start drinking it.

Bottle pour. I love this! A go to must for any so cal hop head! Smells and tastes like a DIPA, but it’s not. Strong citrus pine aromas that finish with a malty grapefruit bite. That’s it Lost Abbey/Port Brewing is my favorite brewery.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle (22 oz). Hazy orange with a medium slowly diminishing white head and good lacing. Aroma is of tropical fruits (mostly grapefruits) along with floral notes and light herbal notes. Taste is slightly sweet with tropical fruits, ok malt backbone, floral notes and light bitterness. Alcohol is well hidden. Light body. Moderate/good carbonation. Slightly oily mouthfeel. Moderately dry finish. Nice hoppy IPA with a relatively low bitterness level. Drinkable and refreshing. It’s nice that the alcohol and malt are not too present, but it’s somewhat thin for this kind of beer.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours cloudy orange with a MASSIVE white bubbly head. A fairly non-aggressive pour still netted me 3 fingers. Spotty lacing all the way down the glass.
Smells of some tropical fruit mango with a stronger than expected malt backbone.
Definitely hop forward. Cascade floral/citrus notes seem to overpower anything else. Not a bad thing, just not expected. Decent pine bitterness and not as much malt as in the nose, but that floral character is heavy throughout as well. Not the most complex IPA I’ve ever had, but the flavors go together well and I do like me some hop bombs.
Mouthfeel is spot on for the style. Just a touch creamy and well carbonated.
Well this one was definitely different than expectations. I really enjoyed it and it may be amongst my top IPA’s.
