lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA May 3, 2008 Bottle courtesy of Beervirgin72. Thanks!
Pours somewhat hazy amber with a nice whitish head. Smell is really nice citrusy, fruity biting piny hops with some nice sweetness to it. Taste is awesomely hopped with refreshing and crisp citrusy hopping and just enough malt to balance, but the hops shine and keep this really drinkable and refreshing. Nice body and carbonation. This is one of my favorite IPAs. pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA May 3, 2008 5-2-08 bottle shared at tasting
Thick amber pour with a good white head. Nice hoppy and citris smell. Flavor is full of sweet hops and it has a nice bitter bite to it. Mouthfeel is nice and smooth. Overall, a good brew! CelticBrew (676), The Crystal Coast, North Carolina, USA May 2, 2008 Pours a medium slightly hazy amber from 22 oz bomber. Forms medium size white foamy head. Aroma of ocean water, hops, slight pine resins with some citrusy malts. Flavour of dry pine resins with hopped caramel essence. It begs to be drank, a little grapefruits and hop resin makes this beer special. Wish I had a keg of it on tap. Beerman6686 (1263), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 29, 2008 Pours a golden loight brown with a quick fading white head. Aroma is of lots of hops, but not enoguht to kick you in the face. Taste is hoppy, but a bit watery and malty, not what I had expected. Lothore (276), California, USA Apr 27, 2008
A- Pours a golden amber hue with a nice 2 finger head that fades somewhat quickly down to a 1/2 finger and leaves lots of lacing.
S- Piney sweet smell followed by grain. Citrusy fruit comes out slightly in the nose.
T- Taste is definitely hopped up. Piney all the way through leading to a wheaty earthy taste at the end.
M- Mouthfeel is fairly viscous and highly carbonated.
D- This is a very drinkable IPA. Delicious, but not heavy enough to weigh you down right away.
bryandhargrave (165), Richmond, Virginia, USA Apr 25, 2008 so i finally got to have some of this while up in northampton ma. cant ever find it at home. very very awesome. im was super pleased and would love to be able to get this more in my own area of dwelling brianprentiss (473), Portland, Oregon, USA Apr 24, 2008 Very very good IPA. Lots of different hops, but not too bitter, it’s a very smooth IPA. Another good offering from Pizza Port. Brigadier (1212), Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA Apr 21, 2008 22 oz bottle
I picked this up on January on a trip to Seattle. It’s been in the fridge ever since then and seems to have held up quite well. If I could get this locally I would be a very happy camper. If you are ever sending bonus beers and happen to have this fresh and on hand don’t hesitate to send another bottle.
Aroma / Appearance - The carbonated peach body filtered through a fair amount of light but was not totally transparent. Above was a half finger eggshell head. The smell of freshly cut grass, resin and a snowy pine forest blended into a very solid combination of hops. The florally backgrounds were offset by a smooth maltiness. Overall this was bright without being aggressive.
Flavor / Palate - The first sip revealed a warm resiny impression. The creamy mouthfeel continued to yield a sweetness among the hops that made it very palateable. It was no problem at all to complete the bottle; in fact I was wishing it had been a 750 just to get that little extra more. The only thing to be aware of is the yeast in the bottom. This is not a filitered beer so if you are expecting one you’ll only end up with a cloud of yeast.
