Brigadier (1220), Chagrin Falls, Ohio, USA Apr 21, 2008 22 oz bottle
I picked this up on January on a trip to Seattle. It’s been in the fridge ever since then and seems to have held up quite well. If I could get this locally I would be a very happy camper. If you are ever sending bonus beers and happen to have this fresh and on hand don’t hesitate to send another bottle.
Aroma / Appearance - The carbonated peach body filtered through a fair amount of light but was not totally transparent. Above was a half finger eggshell head. The smell of freshly cut grass, resin and a snowy pine forest blended into a very solid combination of hops. The florally backgrounds were offset by a smooth maltiness. Overall this was bright without being aggressive.
Flavor / Palate - The first sip revealed a warm resiny impression. The creamy mouthfeel continued to yield a sweetness among the hops that made it very palateable. It was no problem at all to complete the bottle; in fact I was wishing it had been a 750 just to get that little extra more. The only thing to be aware of is the yeast in the bottom. This is not a filitered beer so if you are expecting one you’ll only end up with a cloud of yeast. BOLTZ7555 (1053), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Apr 21, 2008 Not quite the overpowering hops of Hop-15 but still possesses the same amazing appearance (although slightly more subdued). Incredible canopy that doesn’t let go. Traditional flavors included (pine, citrus, malt for balance) but the portions seem higher than in other IPA’s I’ve sampled (woohoo!!!). Another good one from Port!!! Haslinger (640), Syracuse, New York, USA Apr 19, 2008 Tap @ Port Brewing. Very good IPA. Loads of hops with some citrus. Definite one of my favorite IPAS would buy again soon. blutt59 (2042), Dallas, Texas, USA Apr 18, 2008 22 0z. bottle, very fine golden color with hoppy citrus nose, well balanced body that finishes well, jeff789 (360), Pennsylvania, USA Apr 14, 2008 This beer was quite tasty, but i think sometimes the use of many hops muddles the taste... There is a lot going on here. Creamy, i guess this is the west coast ipa they were going for... A lot like Green Flash West Coast IPA imadeadguy (378), back in NJ!, New Jersey, USA Apr 13, 2008 Pours hazy orange/amber with fizzy white head. Aromas of pine, citrus and some malt. Flavor mostly consisted of sweet malt. Small amounts of citrus were in the finish. I dont think I had a fresh one so I’ll need to re-rate this one. acearl (207), J-Town, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 11, 2008 22ozer saved. Very nice, cloudy internet orange hue with hue, particles, frothy white head, cereal grain, dry flowery hop, nice overall mx of hops and right amount of bitterness, medium body, creamy texture sediment settles at bottom of cup, very crafty and enjoyable, great example of a west coast ipa, good example of a Port brew. Mangino (1027), Mississippi, USA Apr 10, 2008 Bottle- Pours an almost clear light amber color, moderately sized off white head. Nose is just whats to be expected, that wonderful citrusy west coast IPA nose, a little spice to it to balance out. Flavor is a wonderful expression of american hops, along with a nice malt backing this is one fine brew. Finishes dry and full of hop flavor.
