fakepurseninja (773), Washington, USA Dec 11, 2007 Smells like wet leather - Nice looking, very caramelly malt base with a huge hop flower presence. Kind of fruity and sweet. Mildly bittered but heavily hopped, lots of hop complexity - hard to distinguish all components. Nice drink. dmac (1423), Toms River, New Jersey, USA Dec 3, 2007 22 oz bomber purchased from Capones. Pours a very hazy orange/amber with a HUGE foamy white head that slowly disipates and left some serious lace on the side of my glass. Huge grapefruit aroma that was easily detectable from three feet away as soon as I opened the bottle. Chewy mouthfeel with a very dry and bitter finish, seems almost like an IIPA. While this beer was still on the cold side the flavor was all over the place, lots of grapefruit, grainy bread and alcohol that didn’t meld well at all but seemed to be competing for first place in the strength department. As it warmed the three flavors found harmony and it melded quite nicely. Very good indeed. leitrim65 (398), Seattle, Washington, USA Dec 2, 2007 This is a solid IPA. Pours a clear copper color with a small white head. Big time citrus aroma, with scents of grapefruit standing out. Medium bodied, well balanced, and somewhat smooth - with good citrus hop flavors throughout. Nice!! Suttree (2701), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Dec 2, 2007 Coppery orange, decent sized white head. Big hop aroma, big hop flavor, exactly what I’ve come to expect in a Southern Cal IPA. Nice mix of earthy and fruity hops with a unobtrusive malt backbone. bitbucket (2027), Kirkland, Washington, USA Dec 1, 2007 (Old rating discovered in a dusty pile of forgotten notes.) Thanks to aspidites for this!. Pours dark gold. Medium body and carbonation. Aroma and taste of every permutation of hops. Resinous finish. stefanje (937), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA Nov 27, 2007 650 ml bottle from local liquor store. Pours a cloudy unfiltered amber-gold color with an ample sudsy off-white head that leaves plenty of lacing. The aroma is strong with citrus and a touch of caramel. The Flavor is hops forward with biter hops dominating the show, adding to that biter is a fair amount of citrus flavors (mostly lemons and some grapefruit), pine oil and some sour grapes. The caramel that was hinted at in the aroma never is fully realized in the taste. The mouthfeel is full and silky smooth; the carbonation is lively and effective. This beer finishes long and bitter hoppy. Overall: This is a biter hops lovers beer-- all others need not apply. Recommended nimbleprop (822), SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA Nov 27, 2007 Pours from the bomber a translucent brownish orange body with a clumpy off white head that left sedimentary rings as the glass emptied. Smells fruity, floral, piney - very balanced aroma that is inviting and not intimidating. Flavor is well balanced too, malty, sugary, piney, lemony, grapefruit, spice even a touch of biscuit. Goes down smooth, lasting bitterness, but nothing overwhelming. The mix of hops produces a great balance between aroma and flavor. A very drinkable and loveable IPA. lordeche (397), Quincy, Massachusetts, USA Nov 26, 2007 Pours copper with thick frothy head. Strong citrus and floral hop aroma complimented by caramel malt and grain. Nice citrus bitterness flavor balanced with slightly sweet malt. Good dry finish.
