appearance: minimally transparent orange with a fluffy, tantalizing ivory head...aroma: citrus, fruity hop nose with a slight sweetness coming through from the malt......taste: very characteristic of the nose. very good dose of citrus hops that eventually opens up to some caramel malt. finish lends itself to a touch of a piney bitterness....tasty
incutrav (576), Woodbury, Minnesota, USA Jun 25, 2007 Good stuff, great hop bite and burn. a true west coast tasty IPA. This stuff goes down smooth, will have to get more... Mrthirstyneck (341), Minnesota, USA Jun 24, 2007 22 oz bomber. wow this stuff was good nice edgy hops. helluva good burn out the backside. just freakin great gotta get more of this! not too sweet either. less malt more hops. and you cant go wrong! carl4beer (394), Fairfax Station, Virginia, USA Jun 23, 2007 pours golden and clear with small head. aroma of malt and floral hops. taste is dominated by floral hops with a grapefruit bitter finnish. well balance and yummy. kwoeltje (1313), Manchester, Missouri, USA Jun 21, 2007 Updated: Mar 28, 2009(re-rate: cask at Ritual) even better on cask - rich mouthfeel on top of the flavors as mentioned; the only downside is that I didn’t want to sample any of the other beers
(tasting at Brickskeller) amber with small light tan head. Lovely floral hops aroma. Flavor was citrus and floral hops. Just enough malt to carry the hops. Wakie (612), Centreville, Virginia, USA Jun 21, 2007 Ok, I don’t like IPA’s. This one had a great sweet hoppy aroma that promised a pleasant experience. The taste though was definitely a strong blend of hops with the cascade hops coming forward quite intensely. At the end of the day I liked it but it was just too darn hoppy for me. Boutip (2333), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Jun 20, 2007 Bottle courtesy of Bu11zeye: Poured an hazy brown color ale with a big foamy head with better then average retention. Aroma of deep citrus hops with some piney notes. Taste is also dominated by huge citrusy hops with some great caramel malt to back-up the whole thing together. Body is above average with some medium filtration and some adequate carbonation. Overall, a good west coast interpretation of the style but nothing earth shattering either. ChainGangGuy (2522), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA Jun 19, 2007 Appearance: Pours a clear, light copper body with a white head.
Smell: A bit of understated aroma of caramel and pine.
Taste: Toasted caramel with resinous pine and plenty of bitterness and acidity along the way. That’s about I’m getting oughta this one.
Mouthfeel: Thin-bodied. Moderately carbonated.
Drinkability: Just another in a long line of IPAs.
