michael-pollack (2606), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA May 27, 2007 22oz. Bottle: Nose is a little sweet and a bit bitter. An amalgamation of hops with floral, citrus, pine, and resin scents, as well as a little caramel malt. Poured amber in color with a huge, foamy, rocky, off-white head that lasted throughout. Very good lacing. Hazy. Lots of particles big and small. Sparkling. Flavor is very bitter. Tastes of hops, plain and simple. Pine, resin, marijuana flavors abound. While bitter, the flavor lacks some bite. Medium body. Sticky texture. Lively carbonation. Long, bitter, finish. Not balanced at all, which is great! Overall, a very nice IPA. whaleman (2171), North Wales, Pennsylvania, USA May 26, 2007 Lightly hazy toasted gold body with a clean, silky white head. Pleasant aroma of crusty, piney hops along with some citrus tones. Clearly hop-focused, as it should be. Well-integrated peachy flavors. Fairly dry with assertive, cutting bitterness. Paired nicely with some spicy Ceviche.
505 (271), Echo Park, California, USA May 24, 2007 This beer was awesome. Very hoppy aroma, but not overpowering in any aroma, mostly fruity, pine, and hints of graperfruit. Pours golden, nice little head. Flavor hits kind of malty, but has a perfect hop bitterness too it, not overwhelming or harsh. Next time I’m in Cali I’ll be sure to look for another bottle. dwyerpg (2519), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA May 24, 2007 For all the wonderfulness of this beer, the aroma could improve quite a bit. The flavor is great, a nice bite throughout. Just a bit too much alcohol in the finish. Nice. johnadam2002 (529), Hainesport, New Jersey, USA May 24, 2007 Updated: Aug 3, 2007A ton of hops in the aroma followed by hints of citrus, pine, and malt. A very hoppy taste to start followed by a light hint of sweet malt. A nice hoppy brew. mlist55 (210), media, Pennsylvania, USA May 23, 2007 Bottle. Hazy orange coloured with an off white head. Complex aroma dominated by caramel, hops and pine needles. Flavour of caramel, hops and pine needles. Hoppy finish.
grant (792), Long Beach, CA/Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA May 20, 2007 Sunny orange with medium amount of small suspended particles. Really sharp strongy hoppy character punctuated by savory maltiness. Pretty much the entire span of hoppy flavors is represented here: lots of citric, peachy and tropical (mango) notes here. Spare, dry and massively hoppy flavor avoiding any husky or astingent notes. Finishes, as expected, bitter and dry. Pretty prototypical West Coast IPA. Thaichile (599), 10aFly, New Jersey, USA May 20, 2007 Bottle. Pours a orangey gold with a nice head that leaves a nice lacing pattern all the way down the glass. The nose is fruity, citric hops. Flavor is very resiny with bitterness throughout. The nose belies the hop barage on the palate. This was too bitter for me and I thought that the strength of that marred the other nuances that might be lying just below the surface of all those hops. I prefer more balance in an IPA although I understand the desire for hopped up, West Coast styles.
