3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Location: Draft at Matchbox in Rockville, 5/23/14
Aroma: This beer has a light aroma of grassy hops, pale malts, and some bread
Appearance: Pours a clear gold color with a small head and some average lace
Flavor: The flavor is light sweet and light bitter, similar to the nose and clean flavor-wise
Palate: The body is fairly light, it has some crispness, and a clean, lightly dry finish
I thought this was a solid pilsner, but not a top-of-style offering. It doesn’t quite hit the level of crispness that I look for in the style.

3.4 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Wheaty tasting. I don’t understand why this has such low grades. Not a bad tasting beer, just a little flat bitter taste.

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle into a pint glass.
A: Pours a semi-hazy golden color. There’s about one fingers worth of rocky, white-colored head. It actually has slightly better retention than I expected, and leaves some lacing behind.
S: One has to really bury their nose in order to find the aroma. Some faint lemon exists along side a touch of pale malt, with little else. Nothing is really bad about its nose...but neither is there much good.
T: There’s a better showing here on the taste. It starts off with some faint noble hop bitterness, quickly growing into a sweet (and actually slightly juicy) lemony finish. Touches of apricot and peach also exist; also somewhat like sweet tea at times. This is the best part of the brew, even if it’s a touch too sweet at times.
M: Way too astringent. Of course, that means it’s nice and dry, but I could do without it choking my tongue into submission. In spite of that, it’s light weight, well carbonated, and easy to drink.
O: This wouldn’t be my first choice for a pilsner. If I saw this in a fresher state, I’d pounce on it more easily. It’s at least held up well for it to still be decent as is.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A pretty decent pilsner, seeing as it is post holidays—though pre-New Years—I am fairly sick of all the wonderful, though heavy, holiday ales. This was one of the only options at the bottle shop I frequent that caught my eye AND was not an ale. Quite decent, hits the spot after a long work day.

On tap at Open City, DC. Aroma of hay, cracker, light noble hops. Appearance is royal gold with a sticky, 1/3 inch white head, spot-on carbonation. Flavor matches the nose; crackery dry, light/moderate noble hops and a dry, slightly fruity finish. Palate is medium, bubbly and very soft. Very well done.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz Bottle. The Pilsener poured a clear polished gold with a small head. The nose detected some floral hops and sweet malt. The taste was floral hops with a spicy hop zest, and sweet malt. The pilsener had a medium body with above average carbonation. The finish is the pilsener’s best feature. There is spicy hops that linger in the roof of your mouth. The finish makes this one of the best pilsener I have had.
