The beer is a deep golden color and medium bodied, with a soft round malt profile and crisp and spicy hop character on the finish. This lager is brewed in the traditional Pilsner style, using authentic Pilsner malt and noble Saaz hops.

Downright Pilsner gets its carbonation completely naturally as it lagers in our fermentation tanks for six weeks. A unique twist on this beer is the dry hop addition of Saaz hops. This additional infusion of hops gives the beer an extra refreshing bite on the finish.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. Aroma- Has a nice presence of malt, grass, caramel and citrus. Appearance- This beer is a murky golden yellow color with a small white head. Taste- Has a great toasted malt flavor with a bready aftertaste. Palate- A medium bodied beer with low carbonation, has a creamy to oily texture. Overall- A nice pilsner, that is well balanced.

On draft. Lots of classic pils stuff going on here. If you like your pilsners hopped up, and I do, this underperforms the US standards.

Aroma: This beer has a light aroma of grassy hops, pale malts, and some bread
Appearance: Pours a clear gold color with a small head and some average lace
Flavor: The flavor is light sweet and light bitter, similar to the nose and clean flavor-wise
Palate: The body is fairly light, it has some crispness, and a clean, lightly dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was a solid pilsner, but not a top-of-style offering. It doesn’t quite hit the level of crispness that I look for in the style.

Wheaty tasting. I don’t understand why this has such low grades. Not a bad tasting beer, just a little flat bitter taste.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a semi-hazy golden color. There’s about one fingers worth of rocky, white-colored head. It actually has slightly better retention than I expected, and leaves some lacing behind. S: One has to really bury their nose in order to find the aroma. Some faint lemon exists along side a touch of pale malt, with little else. Nothing is really bad about its nose...but neither is there much good. T: There’s a better showing here on the taste. It starts off with some faint noble hop bitterness, quickly growing into a sweet (and actually slightly juicy) lemony finish. Touches of apricot and peach also exist; also somewhat like sweet tea at times. This is the best part of the brew, even if it’s a touch too sweet at times. M: Way too astringent. Of course, that means it’s nice and dry, but I could do without it choking my tongue into submission. In spite of that, it’s light weight, well carbonated, and easy to drink. O: This wouldn’t be my first choice for a pilsner. If I saw this in a fresher state, I’d pounce on it more easily. It’s at least held up well for it to still be decent as is.

A pretty decent pilsner, seeing as it is post holidays—though pre-New Years—I am fairly sick of all the wonderful, though heavy, holiday ales. This was one of the only options at the bottle shop I frequent that caught my eye AND was not an ale. Quite decent, hits the spot after a long work day.
