The beer is a deep golden color and medium bodied, with a soft round malt profile and crisp and spicy hop character on the finish. This lager is brewed in the traditional Pilsner style, using authentic Pilsner malt and noble Saaz hops.

Downright Pilsner gets its carbonation completely naturally as it lagers in our fermentation tanks for six weeks. A unique twist on this beer is the dry hop addition of Saaz hops. This additional infusion of hops gives the beer an extra refreshing bite on the finish.

In bottle at Craigís. Pours a blonde colour with a fair beige head. Aroma of candy sugar, yeast and caramel. Similar flavours with mild carbonation and an oily mouth-feel.

Wheaty tasting. I donít understand why this has such low grades. Not a bad tasting beer, just a little flat bitter taste.

12 ounce bottle from Whole Foods Market Charlottesville. Pours a hazy orange-amber color with a medium sized frothy white head. Decent head retention. Aroma of big grassy hops, pale malts, a little bready and some corn. The taste is grassy hops, grapefruit and other citrus, bready malts. Medium bodied. A little on the strange side but not bad.

slightly hazy gold with a foamy white head. sticky medium body with medium-high carbonation.

aroma: pilsner malt, noble hops, slightly metallic minerality.

taste: hop bitterness, noble hop spiciness (tomato plant or green pepper plant), sour minerality, crusty pilsner malt.

nice overall, but lacks the soft subtlety and floral hop character of a great pilsner.

Nice pilsner over all. A little sweeter maltier than others Iíve had. An above average baseball beer.

Bottle. Mostly clear golden hue, with a smallish white head that dissipates quickly. Clear grassy and hay hoppiness with some minerals as well as slight breadiness in the aroma. Same hay and lemony hops in the flavor and a light bready sweetness. Though a light body, itís a bit heavier for the style. Not bad at all, especially in this heat.

Aroma: This beer has a light aroma of grassy hops, pale malts, and some bread
Appearance: Pours a clear gold color with a small head and some average lace
Flavor: The flavor is light sweet and light bitter, similar to the nose and clean flavor-wise
Palate: The body is fairly light, it has some crispness, and a clean, lightly dry finish
Overall Impression: I thought this was a solid pilsner, but not a top-of-style offering. It doesnít quite hit the level of crispness that I look for in the style.

Tap at the stags head. Fine golden pour with pillowy white head. Nose is grass and light Apple juice. Tastes of grass, straw, fruit skin, floral, and hint of pine. Slight bitter hops on finish.

12 oz bottle into a pint glass. A: Pours a semi-hazy golden color. Thereís about one fingers worth of rocky, white-colored head. It actually has slightly better retention than I expected, and leaves some lacing behind. S: One has to really bury their nose in order to find the aroma. Some faint lemon exists along side a touch of pale malt, with little else. Nothing is really bad about its nose...but neither is there much good. T: Thereís a better showing here on the taste. It starts off with some faint noble hop bitterness, quickly growing into a sweet (and actually slightly juicy) lemony finish. Touches of apricot and peach also exist; also somewhat like sweet tea at times. This is the best part of the brew, even if itís a touch too sweet at times. M: Way too astringent. Of course, that means itís nice and dry, but I could do without it choking my tongue into submission. In spite of that, itís light weight, well carbonated, and easy to drink. O: This wouldnít be my first choice for a pilsner. If I saw this in a fresher state, Iíd pounce on it more easily. Itís at least held up well for it to still be decent as is.
