COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Essential Pale Ale is a deep golden color with hop aroma reminiscent of fresh fruit. The pleasing bitter taste from American hops is balanced with English and German malts, and offers a complex full flavored character that is smooth and refreshing.

12 oz. Lightly hazy, burnt orange with a lasting disc of beady foam. Mild nose is caramel, lemongrass and toast. Flavor is the same mix with more citrus zest and some dry grass on the finish. Light-medium body is a little too fizzy with a high level of carbonation. Has a nice balance with a dry finish.

Clear gold pour, white head. GABF pour. Some grassy hops and caramel malt. Standard pale. Nothing crazy amazing, but clean.

Bottle. Pours a cloudy golden orange with bubbly, diminishing, white head and some mild soapy lace and some hop debris. Nose of lemon, honey, herbal tea. Medium body. Medium bitterness with a lasting herbal tea and spice finish. Strange for an APA but not a bad beer. Seems more like an English or even Belgian pale.

Nice amber color. Not as choppy as I expected for the style but a nice crisp finish none the less.

Bottle @ Blue Duck Tavern, DC. The pour’s deep gold with a small head. The nose is quite bready. A bit of honey, white grape. Some summery orchard fruits. Mild caramel flavors. Angel food cake. Slightly peppery hops. Moderate bitterness. Light body, fine carbonation. Overall, fine, but nothing more. I’ll have to seek out a fresher sample.

Draft->lager glass. Hazy gold with small white head. Aroma and taste are mild hops over malt. Pretty plain and average.

Bottle. Beautiful hoppy nose, fantastically American but not classically PNWern; explosive and juicy citrus (even pushing strong kiwi and lychee) and a floral undercurrent. Hazy golden pour with a creamy beige head. Taste is more of the same as the aroma, super juicy citrus orange and grapefruit outdistanced by the more exotic brethren, a solid caramel base but nothing is hard here. Bit of a chalky/minerally touch on the otherwise clean medium body. Light bitterness and semi-dryness, a really fruity wake-me-up that convinces me to expect good things from these guys.
