COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our robust Porter shows bittersweet flavors of coffee and dark chocolate. It has very complex malt character enhanced by yeast fruitiness.

12 oz. bottle from Total Wine, Virginia Beach, VA. Dark brown cola-like pour with a frothy khaki head. The rich chocolate aroma can easily be detected from several feet away. Really nice flavor of dark, yet creamy, chocolate, light espresso, and faint floral hops. The finish is rich but not too bitter. This is a damn good porter!

12 oz bottle into a tulip. Thanks Max! Pours a deep black with a finger of khaki foam that fades into thin edging. Nose is rather smokey with notes of chocolate, coffee, and caramel. Taste is initially smoked malts but it then transitions into sweet chocolate and bitter coffee beans. Smooth and robust. Medium bodied and does a great job hiding the abv. A really solid no-frills porter.

Growler fill from Aw Shucks. Poured a black brown, slight head. Aroma is coffee and chocolate. Full mouthfeel, fairly big, a bit more roast than expected, bordering on stout territory. Some faint fruitiness on the finish, undefined, but complementary of the malt show. Enjoyable brew, felt like I hadn’t had a beer like this in a long time. Liked this more than the score would indicate I think.

This was a pleasant, quietly powerful porter. Rich and chocolatey with ample coffee notes.

Dark brown, can’t see through glass. Little remaining head. Roasted malt, chocolate and coffee smell. Malty and somewhat bitter. Full body with average carb and small bubbles. Strong all-around porter.

A really good porter! It doesn’t have the overly chocolate/caramel/sweetness that oftens ruins other porters. Great stuff.

Bottle. Nose of light coffee and roast malt, chocolate, cocoa, light tang. Pours dark brown-black with a rocky tan head. Taste light-medium sweet, very low bitterness, low tang but a nice feel of twist/semi-pucker in the mouth. Roast and chocolate as above. Fullish body. Very solid double porter, hides its alcohol well.

Opaque tootsie roll brown beer with a medium foamy beige head that is a bit darker around the perimeter. Roasted nose of caramelized sugar, candied nuts, and a hint of chocolate. Flavor is actually quite mild for a porter, but that doesn’t mean it’s boring. It has a light toasty malt bitterness followed by some deep chocolate, and then ends with a subtle sourness. None of the flavors is particularly strong, but they offset each other nicely. A good porter for people who prefer lighter beers or those who want a change of pace.
