Our robust Porter shows bittersweet flavors of coffee and dark chocolate. It has very complex malt character enhanced by yeast fruitiness.

Cask gravity at the 2014 GBBF. With ginger and orange peel. Nose is big candied ginger preserve, spicy and fresh bit not much else. Opaque dark brown coloured pour wiry a halo of cream head head. Flavour is big ginger, spicy orange tang and dark choc, ginger dominates the flavour. Palate is medium full with highish carbonation. Too much ginger.

Cask - Ginger - Ginger and a bit of spice. Jet black with no head. Ginger and roasted malts, light chocolate with a bit of ginger on the finish. Although I find the ginger harsh on the nose, it works ok in the flavor.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a black color with a small foamy dark tan head that faded quickly and left a bit of lacing. The aroma was dark fruits, toasty malts and hints of wood and marshmallow. The flavor was dryish, roasty and bitter with notes of chocolate, vanilla, marshmallow, fruity hops and a hint of port wine. Medium length finish. Medium body. Solid.

Bottle. Pours a black color with slight beige head. Malty, roasty, slight coffee aromas. Roasty, toffee, coffee flavors. Pretty nice porter.

Bottle... Unclear, deeply brown ale with a small, creamy, off-white head. The olfactory standouts here are toasted pistachios, toasted almonds and melted milk chocolate. Medium-bodied with laid-back carbonation. The flavor is very roasty and chocolaty. It’s bittersweet, but more bitter than sweet. Roasty, dark-chocolaty finish that dries out a touch. Bottle courtesy of biggsbowler!

On tap at Finnegan’s Wake during trivia night. Black pour with minimal fizzy eggshell head. Aroma is dark cocoa and acidic coffee. Flavor is cocoa heavy, mild red fruit presence, wet coffee ground earthiness. Creamy, moderately slick body. Solid and enjoyable.

12oz bottle via trade. Dark brown pour with a small, fading tan head. Good aroma, roasty with chocolate and nuts. Dry roasty flavor with charred notes and dark chocolate. Slight bitterness on the finish. Medium body and carbonation. Overall well-done, but not too remarkable.

Honestly, I was expecting more. Its a solid porter but nothing spectacular. Could be that I just got a bottle that had been stored too hot briefly. Somewhat bittersweet with a little coffee, little chocolate, but just left me feeling that the beer wasn’t any more exciting than the label. Just okay.

Pored at brewery, deep brown with white head. Aroma was coffee and chocolate as was taste, roasted malts in finish. Alcohol hidden but warming in finish.
