"Trade from Thomassova. A nice lighter Scottish ale, though it has plenty of flavor and a nice smooth body. My last few newbies are all nice, but short of epic, this included. Nice light plum, earthy hops, sweet and smokey malt."

Poured from bottle. Orange amber pour with a small tan head. Caramel, toasted bread, bit of nut. Pretty good for the style.

Draft at City Tap House. Pours a clear darker amber with orange highlights and a small off white head. The aroma and flavor have some sweet malts, caramel, mild fruit, mild earthy notes, but this was pretty bland. Not much in the way of interesting flavors.

Not great for a style I don’t prefer anyway. Pours murky orange without much head or lacing. Kind of acrid, bitter. Some whiskey barrel but not much. Light sweetness. Doesn’t come together super well. Tap at DC Beer festival.

The aroma is of malt, nuts, grasses, and toffee. It is amber in color with a rather frothy tan head. It has a nutty flavor with a bit of toffee and malts combined. It has a bit of a bitter finish.

3/28/13. Sampled during CBC 2013. Orange amber pour with a small khaki head. Caramel, toasted bread, nuttiness, and a touch of an herbal aspect. Not bad.

Thanks to Marko. Pretty average stuff - fresh grain flavor - didn’t really taste like a scots ale to me.

Bottle. Pours clear orange amber with a small beige head that diminishes quickly and leaves some lacing. Aroma is caramel, malt, grass, and a touch of metal. Flavor is the same, plus toffee, perhaps anise, medium sweet and lightly bitter, with a nutty ranging to metallic finish. Medium body.

Appearance: clear medium chestnut brown, with a short beige head. Aroma: malty and sweet, with caramel, toasted nuts, some molasses and a hint of cardboard. Taste: as the aroma indicates. Finish: lingering, slightly chewy, with malty sweet notes lasting a while. Notes: Pretty typical scotch ale; a bit of a malt bomb, which I like. NoVA Brewfest 2013.

Bottle. Lighter scotch ale-- mild and smooth. Malt with just a little sweetness. Overall pretty good.
