Draft at Clinton hall. Pours a light crisp color. Too sweet for its own being. Not bad but don't see how it's a Christmas ale

12 oz bottle poured into a Spiegelau tulip. Mostly clear straw to golden yellow with super tiny bits of sediment and a finger of off-white head. Aromas of herbs and spices, lemon lime citrus, honey. Almost like an herbal lemon tea. Tastes of big herbs, spices, lemon lime, honey, light floral notes. Medium body with a dry finish.

Draft at Farmers, Fishers and Bakers. Pours golden straw with a nice white head. Slightly sweet honey note to start with lots of coriander on the somewhat bitter finish. Growing on me as I go, or is that the alcohol? Good winter warmer.

Who turns down a free beer. Nonetheless, despite hints of citrus, herbs, and very light roasted malt, there’s not much here. It’s definitely a smooth swallow but at over 225 calories, is it really worth the extra time on the treadmill?

A lot of random elements in this. Pours cloudy orange/yellow with decent head and lacing. Nutmeg, ginger and booze in aroma. Finishes sweet. Kind of reminds me of the kind of bad Christmas candies relatives bring you back from holidays in Germany or Austria. Tap at Black Squirrel.

I thought this was a nice winter warmer. Spice was not too much and the honey gave it a good alcohol percentage and warmth.

Bottle. Cloudy yellow orange pour with a thin head. Candy, honey, Asian pear, spice, Japanese nori seaweed. Syrupy and candy initial feel in the mouth. Medium body with well balanced carbonation. A bit too sweet for me

Flavor is spice forward with dry malt, peppery and spicy, dry alcohol, fruity esters, light hops and bitterness with a dry finish. Full body and moderate carbonation.

lamas (1372) - Washington DC, USA - DEC 30, 2012
Bottle. A hazy old gold/straw pour with a smallish beige head. A pleasant aroma of honey, allspice, candi sugar, caramel, Golden Delicious apples, pineapples, Mandarin oranges, nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves. Relatively medium-bodied and fairly sticky/syrupy on the way down. The taste starts with lots of honey, candi sugar, Golden Delicious apples, and some bananas. Oranges and an abundance of zesty citrus rinds at the end. Plenty of allspice, nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves the whole way through. There is a fair amount of warming alcohol that only adds to the depth of this beer. Quite enjoyable and very underrated.
