COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As our anniversary falls in the middle of winter, the darkest, coldest days in the Mid Atlantic, we have brewed a strong, dark ale to warm us against the cold. Our Second Anniversary Ale is a very limited Smoked Imperial Porter, called TWO. This Porter is a stronger, smoked version of our flagship Porter. It is dark brown, almost black in color, and has a smoky, roasted aroma and smooth, rich, complex smoke and chocolate flavors. Our Brewers and the Tasting Room crew teamed up to mill in by hand 5000 pounds of German beech wood smoked malt and 600 pounds of roasted malt. This was all done bag by bag over the course of an afternoon, truly a labor of love! Enjoy TWO with smoked meats and cheeses in front of a fire.

Growler. Pours opaque black with a medium, frothy tan head, medium retention with good lacing. Aroma is smoked meat, wood, ash, roast malt, prunes, figs, and earthy hops. Flavor is dark and smoke malt dominant with light hops and bitterness, dark fruity esters and a sweet finish. Full body and medium carbonation.

Like barbecue in a glass, and I mean that in the pleasantest way possible. Has a needed streak of naughty sweetness to make the smoke work, and just enough bitterness to be serious. Politely demands pulled pork.

Pizzeria Paradiso, Georgetown tap ($6): Pours black with a light brown head. Aroma is lightly smoked roast, with some coffee and barely any chocolate. Taste is, however, underwhelming. No flavor really stands out. Body is far too light. Doesn’t feel like I am drinking a big beer at all. I think that they should have given this one a few more trys before putting this out.

Smokiest beer I’ve tasted. Definitely a sipping beer. The description of enjoying smoked meats and cheeses in front of a fire is spot on. If you like porter’s this is a special treat. Port City’s Porter is one of my favorites, and this is the porter on steroids.

Bacon, cocoa, and espresso on the nose. Black with a fairly retaining, beige head. Dry, smokey, savory, and meaty. Medium-full bodied, very smooth, with really low carbonation, and a smokey, savory finish.
