3/28/13. Sampled during CBC 2013. Deep brown pour, almost black, with a small tan head. Bourbon barrel in the aroma, some chocolate, fudge, and roast if you search for it. Lighter BA in the flavor, some vanilla and wood, lingering chocolate and mild roast. Not bad.

750 ml bottle. Pours very dark brown, just about black with some clear brown along the edges. The initial pour results in a massive tan head that is more head than beer in the glass. Subsequent pours are not as exuberant. Pleasant aroma of roasted malt with some mild bourbon notes and oak. The flavor is roasted malt and some very mild, almost watered down bourbon. Moderate bitterness at the finish. Fairly abrasive on the palate from the excess carbonation. In fact, I started getting heartburn after about mid-glass. This beer is seems less full bodied than their standard porter. My clear preference is their standard porter.

jredmond (5217) - Manhattan, New York, USA - JAN 6, 2013
Bottle courtesy of Paul at clockwork’s Dec 8th, 2012 tasting. Pours a deep brown body with no head. Aroma is very muted overall - very light notes of cocoa, no bourbon really. Mouthfeel is medium to thin with notes of cocoa, plain sweet malts, a light doughiness and faint bourbon. Overall impression of this beer was very plain and boring.
