3.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pint on tap. Super-brown, clear, big off-white head, laces well. Aroma is pretty light, but still good. Nice taste, very complex, in-line with the style, I can taste the smokiness when i’m looking for it, but it’s definitely light. Nice warm palate, especially right before the aftertaste hits. I love scotch ales!

bottle at mondial de la bière, mtl. clear light brown-reddish with a decent light beige head, some retention/lacing. lightly smoked and almost burnt malts, caramel and dark fruitiness, some spices and cherries. restrained sweetness. soft carbonation, medium body - oily, nice grassy-lightly smoked finish. not outstanding but well executed scoth ale.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Drank from a bottle at the 20th Mondial de la Bière, June 1, 2013. Golden blond, thin head. Spicy hop aroma, notes of sweet barley. Hop flavor too light, some cereal, but rather bitter. A scotch ale with a lack of flavor!

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
A hazed brown ale with with a thin mocha head. In aroma, a sweet dark plum malt with chalky notes, dark raisins, and molasses. In mouth, a smooth sweet burned caramel with peated notes, treacle and dark fruits, doppelbock, very nice.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
22 oz bottle, shared by fiulijn (thanks Alex), pours a transparent dark amber with a small white head. Aroma of scotch malts, and light whiskey. Flavour is quite rich, full of caramel malts, dark fruits and candied sugar. Quite a round body, with a good balanced of flavours - no cloying sweetness, nor weakness in the body in any way. Great stuff.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Super smooth and creamy texture. Rich malt flavors of toffee, subtle peat, wet wood and bread. Nice amount of sweetness, i.e., it’s not overdone. Mild hop bitterness with pleasant herb aromas. Warming, cozy and delicious beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Sweet, peaty, caramel aroma. Fairly dark beer with a light bone-colored head. OK label. Tannic, but pretty balanced. Medium sweetness, woody, residual cocoa notes. Slightly syrupy mouthfeel. Very nice. Thanks to Triock for hauling this back from his west coast vacation.
