3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft at Central Cinema in July. Classic nitro pour: creamy dense khaki head that takes its time to settle. Smooth chocolate, sweetened with caramel. Gentle roast, creamy smooth texture. Overall: this is a pleasant surprise -- this is darned good. No idea if itís changed over the years or if I just got lucky, but this was way better than the average would suggest.

On nitro at the brewery. Dark brown pour, with a light tan nitro head. Roasted malt, light chocolate, mild bitterness, and toast. Watery, not bad, but not interesting.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at Port Townsend, pours a deep dark mahogany with a medium beige head. Aroma brings out notes of chocolate, cocoa nibs and a little roast. Flavour is very light for a 6.6% stout, with notes of roast and cocoa. Smooth and creamy on the palate. Very drinkable but not overly thrilling. Decent stout.

Bottle. Pours a very dark brown color with a slightly thick light brown head on there. Nose is roasty with just a hint of chocolate and sour in there. Taste is a tad sweet and quite roasty, and not as dry as i would have guessed. OK.

1.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 7/20
Black pour. Big tan head. Plenty of lacing. Smells of licorice and malt. Taste is...unexpected. Very sour. Iím guessing it wasnít intentional as it tastes like Madrugada Obscura - a sour stout. After that there is notes of coffee, but I really canít get past how sour this is. Not intentional at all, but not bad. Sadly it isnít supposed to be a sour stout at all.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
(Draught at The Beer Junction) black, on nitro, creamy tan head. Nose of raisin, rich chocolate, dark fruit, cream, brown sugar, cola, very complex. Taste of raisin, milk chocolate, cream, honey, rum, and brown sugar. Really flavorful for 6.6% ABV (what was listed when I drank it). Awesome dry stout, maybe the best Iíve had.

Vacation 2011 - Seattle and Olympic National Park
8/18/2011: Port Townsend Stout... Aroma: Semi-sweet chocolate; suggestions of roasted malt and coffee beans. Appearance: Deep brown color with a ruby shine, mostly opaque in the glass; foamy, tan-colored head. Flavor: Moderately roasty; more milky chocolate; molasses and caramel. Palate: Medium-full body; smooth and creamy mouth feel. Overall: This is a really smooth stout that good and has even more potential with a little more tweaking; this would be a fantasic "sweet stout" (or the way I think a milk stout should be done)...
22 fl. oz. bottle from Port Townsend Brewing Company in Port Townsend, WA. Rating #69 for this beer.
