COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our winter ale is made from a blend of pale and crystal malts, roasted barley and Belgian aromatic malts. Cooler fermentation and a longer aging time adds further complexity to this Old Ale style.

Bottle: Musty copper brown with a smaller head. Nose is mild of fruits and malty sweetness. Flavor is fruity with citrus and apple. A bit on the sweet side, but still good. Thanks Buckdich.

22oz bottle acquired in trade with Larry Pitonka (thanks!). Poured a medium and cloudy copperish color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of citrus, pine, caramel and a little floral. Tastes of grapefruit, fruity, light and light caramel.

Blind tasting. Light brown w/ good head. Big chunks in glass....Big grapefruit aroma and taste. More balanced than I expected from the aroma. Bitter hops at the end. Good thickness. Really enjoyed this one...funny that all 3 of us that rated it blind seemed to enjoy it, while most other ratings on here are pretty low.

Bottled. Blind tasting. Pours a cloudy copper with a full tan head. Aroma of pine, grapefruit. Medium body and carbonation. Taste starts lightly sweet with oranges, pine, grapefruit, and resin at the end. This is apparently an English Strong Ale that wanted to be an IPA.

Bottle--blind tasting, at that. Pours a clear medium copper, thick tan head. Huge sweet fruitily hoppy nose. Bodyís a little higher than medium, but not much. Active carb. Straong caustic resin-y hop bite on the mid-palate and the finish. Big strong crisp hop flavors throughout, complex but still refreshing.

22 oz. Bottle:Murky pond water brown with no head. Aroma of ripe apples ready to be made into cider and alcohol. The taste is bitter cough medicine and apple cider without the sweetness. The aftertaste seems to have bitter cardboard mixed with raisins - not bad. I kind of liked this guy even though the average score is not that high. Thanks Indiana_Red for sharing the fruit of your trip the Mecca Northwest!

Bottle Poures a cloudy orange/amber witha very small head and no lacing to speak of. Aroma is light woody malts wioth only slight hop aroma. Flavor is fairly IPAish. PLenty of hop \bitterness and a moderate malt backbone. Lots of woody, earthy notes. Strong lingering bitterness. ABV is not too noticeable for the percentage.

22oz bottle Pours amber topped with a small off white head. A great floral aroma and hops. A nice tast almost like a IPA. Thanks Indiana_Red for this one.

A very surprising beer. At first blush, it has a very flowery taste, almost too much, but after it warms up a bit, it definitely grows upon you. Nice dark amber look. Could use a slight bit more hoppiness, but itís enough to keep the taste buds happy. Nice body - a very mouthy feel. Sampled in 22 oz. bottle, but can guess it would be better in the sampling room.

(22 oz bottle: Obtained 22-Dec-05 in trade with Larry Pitonka, thanks Andrť!) The nose is only lightly aromatic and the obvious floral character isnít thrilling me in the least, but the faint, sweet caramel is reasonably pleasant, though not pleasant enough to get me excited about drinking the beer. Seemingly a winter warmer with Pacific Northwest influence, I must admit that Iím not crazy with the choice of hops. Itís coming across as really floral in flavor too, and the bitterness is a bit strong, bullying itís way to prominence in the long, drawn-out finish. Not that this beer is exceedingly hoppy compared to what Iím used to on the west coast, but itís out of balance according to my tastes. Itís just too damn floral! The sweet, caramely maltiness sets a nice base but is overshadowed by the perfumy fields of flowers, though the sweetness becomes unwelcome once Iím on the second pour. Alcohol isnít well masked for only a 7.4% brew. Body is medium, with ample carbonation stimulating the palate and alcohol hinting its presence. Color is deep amber with significant haze. The first pour yielded a very small, off-white head, but the second pour from the bomber has the head reaching nearly half an inch. Retention is fair, with the head settling to an inconsistent, thin, filmy layer. Lacing consists of several small, but densely packed patches. Yeah, this beer is okay, but the imbalanced and floral nature of this brew is just killing my overall enjoyment. I definitely wonít seek this out again.
