COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our winter ale is made from a blend of pale and crystal malts, roasted barley and Belgian aromatic malts. Cooler fermentation and a longer aging time adds further complexity to this Old Ale style.

Bottled. Cloudy reddish amber. Appley nose with some of citric hops. Plenty of warming caramel malt, still the mouthfeel is somewhat hard. Lingering bitter finish. Solid but unspectacular.

B5K. Dark amber colour, slightly hazy. Chewy brown sugary malts in the flavour. Full body. Aroma of toffee, nuts and hints of demerara. Sweet finish with toffeeish notes and a hint of alcohol.

Bottle from Malt & Vine. Pours near ruby, more brown, with a slight off-white head. Lots of resin and caramel for aroma. Full bodied with mild carbonation. Flavors of mildly roasted caramel and some floral/fruity hop. Resin? This is very tasty. Very smooth. Quite a good drink.

22oz bottle acquired in trade with Larry Pitonka (thanks!). Poured a medium and cloudy copperish color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of citrus, pine, caramel and a little floral. Tastes of grapefruit, fruity, light and light caramel.

Pours a transparent copper orange with a spotty-lacing white head. Aroma of lightly sweet caramel malts and a hint of tart light fruits. Starts with about average fullness and a touch of sweet pale malts along with some unexpected tartness and light fruity esters. Finishes mildly bitter and tart. Not sure if the tartness is expected.

2008-09-17. Hazy dark amber body with a larger long lasting beige head and lacing. Nice citrusy aroma with awesome fresh smelling oranges and tangerines (8+) have me rather excited to taste it, only to be let down. Odd flavour at first. Tart-bitter hops character, an odd tangy with a kiss of alcohol in the finish. Brief highlights echo the citrus of the aroma but they are disappointingly intermittent. Average palate on the thin side. Odd, has its moments. Numbers came out high because I liked the aroma, but I probably would have put this a touch lower overall. Bottle shared by Blankboy

22oz bottle shared with blankboy, GregClow, jerc and mabel - blankboy’s bottle? Murky deep orange pour with a huge fluffy beige long-lasting head. Aroma of dry spice, citrus zest, and light sweet malt. This bottle might have been a tad old - the taste had some dry lemon juice tartness that seemed somewhat out of place, but the main body was solid floral pungency over blood orange sweet juicy malt and crushed appleseed bitterness emerging in the finish. Thick bodied, lightly acidic (again, not really quite appropro?), soft mouthfeel, and also softly carbonated - nothing wrong other than maybe a bit of papery age to it.

Bottle: Dark mahogany, light head. The nose is hoppy and spicy with some earthy malt, rye, spice and brown sugar. The flavor is malty, light caramel, sweet plum and grass. The finish is medium bodied. nice.

Bottle--blind tasting, at that. Pours a clear medium copper, thick tan head. Huge sweet fruitily hoppy nose. Body’s a little higher than medium, but not much. Active carb. Straong caustic resin-y hop bite on the mid-palate and the finish. Big strong crisp hop flavors throughout, complex but still refreshing.
