3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: OCT 19, 2008 My bottle (22oz) shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, jerc & mabel -- courtesy of íSummer Secret Santa 2008í. Pours a slightly hazy orange-amber with some bubbles and a large lasting foamy off-white head. Nice spicy malty aroma along with some sweetness and citrus fruit. Flavourís not as good (it may be a touch past itís due date but itís hard to tell as thereís no date anywhere on the bottle), thereís a touch of sourness to it along with citrus fruit, bready malt and spices. Average bodied. Not bad, I thought it was O.K. -- Iíd love to try a fresh bottle though.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
[1712-20080917] 22floz bottle. Fruity hops and some light apple skins aroma. Hazy, dark orange brown body with a long-lasting foamy light tan head. Citrus tangerine juice flavour has a mild floral tang finish. Medium body. Mild oldness but no proof of date.
<i>Overheard: "There’s no proof [of the date] except for that chunk at the bottom." "Mmm, chunky."</i>

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Taster - Port Towsend Brewing - Port Townsend, WA.
Aroma Ė Dark malt aroma, fruity yet light in the aroma needs more spice.
Appearance Ė Brown in color, Nice light head and clear.
Flavor Ė Can taste the dark malts but it felt watery and light. It was like it was pulled to early. The beer was weak and not a hyped up Winter warmer.
Palate Ė Nice Mouthfeel, good texture with a dry finish.
Overall Ė This seemed like it was missing flavor and true winter ale essence. Was looking for a big beer not one that laid flat. Looks like others liked it but I was sadly disappointed in this beer.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
A light spiced aroma with hints of malt. Slightly hazed orange pour. An unusual sour flavor that I just could not get past. Light bodied and a bit fizzy. Not one of my favorites. Drinkable but barely.

2.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Appearance: Pours a clear, amber body with a bubbly, frothy, white head.
Smell: Sweetish-smelling, bready maltiness with a cup of apricot juice.
Taste: Bready malts with a flash of sugary sweetness. Then, the flavor jumps into a suspiciously tart apricot juice taste. A fair kick of hop bitterness holds until the still rather worrisome tart finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation.
Drinkability: Not very pleasant and a bit awkward to finish.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bomber from Safeway, Port Angeles; Nose of caramel and raisin pie with a very light vanilla note; clear amber with a big, glass-lacing beige head; flavor is toasty with brown sugar and a very light smokiness.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Majestic mahogoany body w. a full head and spicy aroma. The flavor was a dull blend of malts w. a mild, but pleasant hop touch. Surprised to see the high alcohol content, was masked well. Overall, standard winter fare.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
(22 oz bottle: Obtained 22-Dec-05 in trade with Larry Pitonka, thanks Andrť!) The nose is only lightly aromatic and the obvious floral character isnít thrilling me in the least, but the faint, sweet caramel is reasonably pleasant, though not pleasant enough to get me excited about drinking the beer. Seemingly a winter warmer with Pacific Northwest influence, I must admit that Iím not crazy with the choice of hops. Itís coming across as really floral in flavor too, and the bitterness is a bit strong, bullying itís way to prominence in the long, drawn-out finish. Not that this beer is exceedingly hoppy compared to what Iím used to on the west coast, but itís out of balance according to my tastes. Itís just too damn floral! The sweet, caramely maltiness sets a nice base but is overshadowed by the perfumy fields of flowers, though the sweetness becomes unwelcome once Iím on the second pour. Alcohol isnít well masked for only a 7.4% brew. Body is medium, with ample carbonation stimulating the palate and alcohol hinting its presence. Color is deep amber with significant haze. The first pour yielded a very small, off-white head, but the second pour from the bomber has the head reaching nearly half an inch. Retention is fair, with the head settling to an inconsistent, thin, filmy layer. Lacing consists of several small, but densely packed patches. Yeah, this beer is okay, but the imbalanced and floral nature of this brew is just killing my overall enjoyment. I definitely wonít seek this out again.

3.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle shared with blankboy, HogTownHarry, jerc & mabel - courtesy of blankboy. Copper-amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of resiny hops, spice, caramel, orange zest, grapefruit - nice! Medium bodied. Flavour is quite sharp, with notes of sour citrus and grapefruit pith overpowering what seem to be some nice toffee & dark sugar notes from the malt. Seems a bit off-kilter to me - as blankboy notes, it could’ve been an old bottle.
