COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our secret weapon. A fulsome, winsome strong ale. A deep copper tinged brew for the true aficionado, longer fermentation and thrice hopping bring about a complex soft bitterness allied to a malt induced sweetness with the characteristic oily Fuggles hop perfume. Not just for students. Once "stuffed" savour the flavour of a glass as a digestif... True "Aroma-therapy".

Grain: Pale Malt, Roast Barley, Black Malt, Flaked Barley.
Hops: Galena, Nugget, East Kent Goldings.

On tap at Porterhouse Central, Dublin. A rich and complex beer this, with all the good stuff from both malt and hops. One of their very best.

On draught at Porterhouse, Covent Garden. Like the Thomas Hardy Ale and the Sarah Hughes Ruby Mild I had earlier this is very malty. The malt here is tempered by a good dosing of hop. Still alcoholic and malty. Hop finish is in fact quite harsh, but doesn’t alleviate the rich malt and alcohol. Coffee/choc/syrupy malt aroma and in mouth with some sweetish berry fruit. Hit of harsh hop on end. Sweet tangerine in there too.

Dickinsonbeer (5077) - Hoboken, New Jersey, USA - JUL 29, 2006
Pretty decent strong ale, although for the most part it was muddled and a bit yeasty. Aroma is mixed with citrus, herbla and floral hops along with some fruity yeasty aromas and a thick caramel malt backbone. Flavor is initially pretty sweet with malts then a slightly harsh hop bitterness in the end. Alcohol comes throuhg as it warmed.

Draught@brew pub, Dublin. Amber color, steady off-white head. Complex aroma has apricot, mango, glue and brandy. Creamy mouthfeel. Dried fruits mixed with alcohol and hops in the flavor. Hoppy and alcoholic aftertaste. Winter-warmer.

Strong, sweet fruit taste. Medium to full body. Dark amber body, compact but lasting light tan head. Sweet but good - don’t notice the alcohol. Enjoyable!

Dark brown colored, little beige head. Sweet, strongly fruity aroma with some caramel tones, interesting aroma. Medium to full bodied, fine that English Ale has so full body. Flavor is rich with caramel and fruits, lasting aftertaste dries finely.

Draft in Dublin: It had an oragne-copper color with a caramel and floral/citrus (couldnt figure out which) scent. Not much head. Defintaly a caramel/toffee undertone to the taste, and an excellent mouthfeel.

[Draft at Porterhouse, London] A nutbrown beer with a fine creamy beige head. It almost has no aroma - what is there is sweet nutty. The flavor is nutty as well combined with notes of roasted bread and alcohol.

Draught at Porterhouse, London: Small layer of a head, lace on the glasse. Orange color with some red sparklings. Soft carbonation. Flowery and slightly sweet nose. Barley malt kick, smooth - medium lasting with a toffee finish.
