COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our secret weapon. A fulsome, winsome strong ale. A deep copper tinged brew for the true aficionado, longer fermentation and thrice hopping bring about a complex soft bitterness allied to a malt induced sweetness with the characteristic oily Fuggles hop perfume. Not just for students. Once "stuffed" savour the flavour of a glass as a digestif... True "Aroma-therapy".

Grain: Pale Malt, Roast Barley, Black Malt, Flaked Barley.
Hops: Galena, Nugget, East Kent Goldings.

Polotmavé hodně silné pivo, chuťově o něco míň výrazné než třeba belgické fláky. Ale šlo to, k večerní přípravě prezentace ideální. Lahváč z pivoňky.

Ar: Very grainy, with some pear esters - a bit of mossy hops. Ap: Clear copper - medium-small light tan head with good retention and a solid lacing. T: Lightly sweet malt up front - toasty with a pronounced and firm bitterness, hop flavor is moss and black licorice - finish has some pear, peach, and a touch of orange, and bitterness lingers. P: Medium body with medium carbonation - dry finish. O: Good brew - deep malt and ester profile, but hops really cut through and pronounce themselves.

Draught. Pours appealing opaque amber, with decent head. Roasted malt and yeast on the nose. Pleasant mouthfeel of fruity hops, malt and caramel. High alcohol content is well camouflaged. Decent beer.

Tap. Brown colour. Nice, creamy beige head. First it smells like bakery, then a bit sour milk and at the end sourish and fruity. Strange ... Very nice fruity flavour and ends in a strong bitter finish. (Porterhouse, Dublin, 16.03.07)

Cask at Franciscan Well Winter Ale Festival. Not a whole lot going on on the nose. Pours amber red with a thin lingering white head. Tastes of caramel, with strong off-flavour cabbage, lingering sour/bitterness. I know it’s good as I’ve had it many times before, this seems like a misrepresentative bad cask. Will re-rate.

(bottle) Pours a slightly reddish brown color, with an off-white head. Aroma is fruity and very grassy from the hops, balanced by a nutty malt flavor. Heavy bitterness. Very full-bodied, long and bitter finish. Intense in terms of aroma and taste. Hints of sherry, as it warms a little. Delicious at first, but after a while gets out of balance because of lingering bitter taste on the palate. To be drunk with moderation. I like it.
