Pringao_Toribi (179) - Oviedo, SPAIN - OCT 11, 2013
Strong beer, only for the brave who dare to drink this dark gold, a too quick and rough escalation between the licorice taste and the bread toast aftertaste, alcoholic to coffee aroma.

Bottled. Pours black with a medium sized, creamy, beige head, that leaves an excellent lacing. Aroma of toasted malts, chocolate and licorice. Sweet flavor that ends up dry and with bitter notes. Quite full bodied, oily text and soft to flat carb. A very nice English style imy.

Kolsvart med stort ljusbrunt skum som stannar på kanten! Mycket rostade dofter och lite söt! Smaken är kaffe och lite lakrits samt en del alkohol! Bättre än väntat!

Dark back, off white head, some lacing. Roasted coffee aroma, but the flavour is too subdued to be a truly great imperial stout. Good, but weak for the style.

Craft Clerkenwell. Martin T tasting. Almost opaque dark brown beer. Little pale tan head. Palate is light and minerally and a little crisp. Mild fresh dark malt. Whisper of malt cream. Minerally finish. Simple stuff but okay.

Bottle, 7%. Roasted, salty, creamy aroma, hint of smoke. Black colour. Good stable light brown head. The flavour is creamy and nicely roasted. Has a little salt liquorice and a hint of smoke in the finish. Good mouthfeel.

Bottle at the Craft Beer Company Clerkenwell
Someone brought out this beer - an Irish imperial stout was too tempting to pass up. Unfortunately it did not work all that well. I’m glad to have sampled it yet I was very happy to move on to the next open bottle.

Aroma / Appearance - The oily black base rests idly in the glass. Not quite as dark and active as a bigger imperial stout it has an indifferent look. Sweet coffee grounds and melted Hershey’s kisses stand out the most. All told it does not grab the senses completely.

Flavor / Palate - Coffee, iced hot chocolate, and a sweet edge try to catch the attention. Unfortunately it is not enough. This is respectable but missing the depth that comes from the best of the style. I am at least willing to give Porterhouse some slack with their other releases as they were good.
