Pours a dark brown/black color that forms and off white to light brownish head on top. Smells of some roasted maltyness with a definite after aroma of booze!

Opaque black - brown beer, good pale tan head. Fairly dry palate. Dry wood dominates the otherwise smooth dark malt. Trace of vanilla. Dry finish with a little spice and minerals. Quite aggressively barrelled - US style!

Bottle. Dark brown with thin light Brown head. At first I smelled light dry roast but booze scent takes over. Boost but nicely balanced with dry roast and a gentle sugary sweetness.

Januar bonus @Sørens. Black with a small off-white head. Aroma of vanilla and dried fruit, a roasted note and a little sweet licorice. Sweetish malty flavour with licorice, chocolate and dried fruit, bourbon and vanilla oak notes and reasonably drying roasted flavour. Very well balanced for a barrel aged imperial stout

Bottle. 11.0%. Best before 13.08.13. Pours dark brown, almost black, with a dark khaki head. Decent lacing. Sweet and roasted aroma with a faint vanilla note and an alcohol bite. Dark fruit note as it warms and a slight berry-like tartness. Flavour is sweetish and dry, with dark fruit and roasted notes, alcohol and a plastic note, the latter diminishing as it warms though. Tart, alcoholic finish with a roasted touch; whisky-like overtone. Lingering dryness and a grassy note. Overall good. Aroma wins by an inch over flavour. 28.12.12.

DuffMan (9541) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - DEC 27, 2012
Bottle. Hearty dark brown pour with a brown finely bubbled crown. Aroma is sweet and roasty, and the flavours present a nice balance between the sweet vanilla/rye barrel traits and the bitter hard roasted malts. Creamy texture, full bodied. Very nice.

Pour is brown black with a fizzy tan head that quickly disappears. Roasted malt, toffee, irish whiskey, oak and coffee in the aroma. Mouthfeel is slick, with a hint of carbonation in the body. Quite a heavy body. More warming Irish whiskey in the flavour, with some background burnt malt which works very well. Finish is long and lush, with lots of lovely warming alcohol. Very nice.

330 ml bottle. Glossy black. Small light beige head. Oaked wooden aroma. Intense vanilla. Soft velvety texture. Rich malty caramel flavours. Silky. Burnt wooden flavours that meld nicely with the sweet malts. Could have used a little more carbonation, but this is a very nice beer.
