nimbleprop (581), Washington, Washington DC, USA Jun 17, 2008 On tap at the Porterhouse on Nassau street in Dublin. Never has a beer delivered more directly on it’s promise than this beer. Pours a translucent, watery black with a soft, creamy white head. Aroma is sweet and chocolaty. Flavor is exactly like putting a well crafted chocolate truffle in your mouth, soft, creamy, slightly grainy, sweet but not overpowering with a touch of bitter cocoa. Soft, easy finish. Very chocolatty.
Somehow this manages to blend seamlessly with the stout base, but it covers any trace of the beer. Like O’boy, only less sweet and milky.
It is better than that sounds, but a half pint was enough. cellar (328), Dublin, Ireland Apr 12, 2008 dark beer but not like the black stuff, creamy head, notes of chocolate, burned malt and very milky, sweetness and bitternes in nice balance, good stout, but needs some power, it is like they dont dare, which is a shame. larsga (2141), Oslo, Norway Mar 25, 2008 Medium creamy shiny deep offwhite everlasting head. Excellent cling. Deep dark red-brown translucent body. Intense perfumy milky dark chocolate aroma with vanilla notes. Dry-and-sweet vanilla and chocolate pudding taste with a dry, powdery feel to it. Harmonic and balanced. Long aftertaste, very distinct and clear. Not very complex, but still has more than enough to interest. Very nice, but definitely not a session beer. (0.2l draft, Porterhouse Temple Bar, Dublin.)
