In response to growing interest in American style pale ales the Porterhouse has decided to resurrect a beer from our past. Based on a beer brewed somewhat ahead of its time, in our brewpub days, Hop Head is a highly aromatic, bitter, pale ale, made with the intention of satisfying the hop heads amongst us. Amber coloured, with a distinct malt character, generous use of hops for bittering and the triple addition of cascade and Hallertau Northern Brewer hops gives a conspicuous citrus character for both aroma and flavour. Along with a slightly higher alcohol content this results in a rich, fruity beer with an oily, citrus hop character and wonderfully rich, full mouthfeel.

Faint aroma of hops, but not as bitter as advertised. Quite fizzy after the American style.

Halv pint på porterhouse. Fantastisk god öl med massor av fruktig humle och rejäl bäska.

Pours amber with a medium head. Piney, bitter, grassy. Too grassy. I like my pale ale more fruity/citrussy. Also, its flavor goes away with each sip. Correct, but there are far better variants for this style.

330ml bottle. Clear, copper-ish, dark amber colour with average, frothy, half way lasting, decently lacing, off-white head. Hoppy aroma has notes of lemon tea, caramel malty basis, hints of orange zest and grass, a very cautious fungous yeasty touch. Taste is minimally sweet caramel malty, hints of lemon tea, dry, grassy, and slightly soggy, strawy hoppy overtones; dry, minimally herbal-spicy hoppy finish.

On tap at Dublin International airport. Ruby copper color with small tan head. Big floral grassy hop aroma. Hop bitter up front, nice balance of malt. Finish is pine, grassy, some onion. Very nice hoppy pale.
