COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In response to growing interest in American style pale ales the Porterhouse has decided to resurrect a beer from our past. Based on a beer brewed somewhat ahead of its time, in our brewpub days, Hop Head is a highly aromatic, bitter, pale ale, made with the intention of satisfying the hop heads amongst us. Amber coloured, with a distinct malt character, generous use of hops for bittering and the triple addition of cascade and Hallertau Northern Brewer hops gives a conspicuous citrus character for both aroma and flavour. Along with a slightly higher alcohol content this results in a rich, fruity beer with an oily, citrus hop character and wonderfully rich, full mouthfeel.

Hop Head was the first beer tasted at the pub on Parliament Street in Dublin on 3 March, This was a nice change of pace from stouts at most of the pubs. Steven our bartender recommended it to me. The ale poured a clear deep amber in color and full head. The aroma was of citrus and some grapefriut on the tongue. This is nicely hopped ale with a balanced finish. The medium body ale had a lively carbonation. This is good APA for the Irish to enjoy. We noticed that other Irish brewers are brewing pale ales.

Pours dark coppery orange, long lasting white head. Aroma of Orange peel, pine resin, slight caramel & woody notes. Fairly harsh bitter hop taste, orange peel prominent again, fairly thin mouthfeel though. A very decent USA inspired ipa. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
