In response to growing interest in American style pale ales the Porterhouse has decided to resurrect a beer from our past. Based on a beer brewed somewhat ahead of its time, in our brewpub days, Hop Head is a highly aromatic, bitter, pale ale, made with the intention of satisfying the hop heads amongst us. Amber coloured, with a distinct malt character, generous use of hops for bittering and the triple addition of cascade and Hallertau Northern Brewer hops gives a conspicuous citrus character for both aroma and flavour. Along with a slightly higher alcohol content this results in a rich, fruity beer with an oily, citrus hop character and wonderfully rich, full mouthfeel.

At a tasting, thanks eyes_wide_shut, small stable bubbly head, very very light brown colour, aroma of lemon, lychhee, apricot and some herbs with just a hint of malt, herbal and citrus flavour with a hint of hay in the back, medium and not too strong bitterness with just a hint of sweetness. Nice.

Fra cask, Porterhouse, Dublin. Ravgylden med meget lidt skum. Ikke meget hop head over næsen. Jeg savner kulsyre til at bakke de lette citrus og florale humle-noter op. Fik en smagsprøve på samme øl i en "almindelig" fad-udgave og den var mere spændstig.

[5225-20130412] 330mL bottle with a weird metallic pop-top that failed. Lemony celery aroma. Clear, orange amber body with a long-lasting creamy head. Grainy bitter citrus peel essence in the flavour. Medium body. Good. (7/3/8/4/15) 3.7

Dark copper with some slight haze. Basically no foam. Aroma of passionfruit hops, floral hops. Taste actually starts of with a really biscuity malt - very blonde ale, even lager-y. The description of "oily" is right. Maybe it’s a bit old, but the hops are really subdued. Ends up in an awkward spot between an APA and bitter.

Gulper during Canada Finland qualifier game. Half gine already - light orange amber with a permanent thick head. Smells instantly across the sea aroma. Bready malts and faint orange and citrus. Light zip, interesting blend of salivating sharpness, grapefruit rind, toasty grain, out of beer. Rich goodness. Incredibly drinkable.

Rated on 5-23-2010 - Bottle best before 04 01 10 provided by patrick767. This beer pours a small beige head with a short retention, hazy golden body, fast rising carbonation, suspended yeast, and spotty amounts of lacing. The aroma is malty and citrus hops. The taste is moderately bitter, malty and citrus hops. The palate is tingly and this beer is light-medium bodied. This beer is not overly hoppy tasting and is easy to drink.
