COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In response to growing interest in American style pale ales the Porterhouse has decided to resurrect a beer from our past. Based on a beer brewed somewhat ahead of its time, in our brewpub days, Hop Head is a highly aromatic, bitter, pale ale, made with the intention of satisfying the hop heads amongst us. Amber coloured, with a distinct malt character, generous use of hops for bittering and the triple addition of cascade and Hallertau Northern Brewer hops gives a conspicuous citrus character for both aroma and flavour. Along with a slightly higher alcohol content this results in a rich, fruity beer with an oily, citrus hop character and wonderfully rich, full mouthfeel.

Ohhh a local style made by a European brewery. Aroma is resinous earth and stinging grapefruit, crystal really comes through in the flavour, lasting citrus finish. Pretty hoppy, I wouldn’t think twice about calling this an IPA. Also I think the description is outdated and the recipe has changed... Centennial took centre stage here.

330 ml bottle. Clear golden body with a small off-white head. Aroma of refreshing citric fruit like grapefruit and dry malt. Flavor is nice and refreshing, soft caramel malt, fruity and decent bitterness. Medium body and bitter, fruity aftertaste. Not super complex, but a nice and easy drinkable IPA with a good bitterness.

Comes out of the bottle in a very nice amber color with a whiteish head on top. Has the smell and taste of hops that we all know and love. Good tasting and linguring finish make this a great pale ale to try.

2013-04-12. Crisp orange body small white Head. 3+ Hopy aroma is mild, grassy light greenery to the hops. 6+ Flavour is similar green sort of grassy leafy muddled fruit. Soft average bodied balate. 3+ Interesting overall, light fruitiness as it warms. I suspect the hops have a bit more zip to them on it’s home turf.Bottle shared by JoeMcPhee

Thanks for the bottle gethinbeer. Pale golden pour. The aroma is a little bit fruity with some herbal spicy notes and a bit of lemony character. A touch of pepper and some fruit along with a bit of pine and some grapefruit. Pretty nice actually.
