COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed with fresh oyster. A smooth drinking aromatic stout with a discernible but unidentifiable aromatic aspect. Not suitable for vegetarians. This gently flavored stout has a roast malt character, full body and an aromatic character from the Goldings hops. Fresh oysters added during the brewing process, lend a discernible yet unidentifiable note.

A dark brown, slightly opaque body with a tan head that had some nice retention and nice lace. Aroma had some nice roasted malts, some sweetness to it almost like a milk stout. There a nice mineral quality which I guess was the oysters. Flavor seemed to have a little more sweetness then I expected. There was still nice roasted malts and some coffee like flavors, but it was mostly sweet. I did not taste the mineral quality that I got in the aroma. Finish was slightly dry. Carbonation seemed slightly high.

Tight nose. Compared to Porterhouse Plain Porter: similarly light Coca-Cola/caramel nose, but a wee bit saltier. Wispy body. Compared to Porterhouse Plain Porter: meltier, chewier + more powdered choc. Finish: Similar hoppy twist (same hops used). Also this, has a slight seawater salt return.

0,33 cl bottle. Pours thick high retentive beige foam and a deep black colour. Nose is extremely malty, dark bread. Good carbonation. Dark bread , English liquorice, burnt toast . Nice bitter finish. Didn't find the oyster though.

33cl bottle, bb09/2015. 101th Bloomsday celebratory tipple, skipping the gorgonzola this time. - Thinner brown pour, near fizzy. Smells of caramel ashes, roast bread crust, indeed a "discernible but unidentifiable aromatic aspect" closer to quince or unripe pear than oyster. Thinner than expected palate transports powder chocolate, filter coffee, caramels, all filtered through a haze of gently briny ash, rimmed by a pleasant Golding prickle. Pleasant enough, although lacking the punch to accompany any heartier fare like "thick giblet soup, nutty gizzards, a stuffed roast heart, liverslices fried with crustcrumbs, fried hencods’ roes", let alone grilled mutton kidneys!

Gran stout.

Pour on nitro tap at the brewpub, dark brownish black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes caramel, toffee, roast, some nice chocolate notes, some toasted bread. Taste was a mix of chocolate, coffee, hints of spice into some roast, slight earth, touch of vanilla, finishing slightly sweet.

Draft pour at the source. The beer is a dark brown with a khaki head. The aroma has chocolate, ash, and just a hint at brine. The taste is a muted sweetness with a touch of salt. Medium body and low carbonation.

Crystal dark amber, tan head. Aroma is simple: coffee, liquorice. Creamy, round, full, bitter. Medium finish. After-taste reveals the oysters.

Bottle. Pours dark brown, black, with a wooden tinge. Small, beige head. Aroma is roast, some spicy liquorice, earthy sour, dark fruit. Maybe the oysters? Taste is roast, some coffee, the same dark fruit, sour, earthiness. Light with decent carbonation. Very drinkable.

On tap at The Porterhouse, pours a near black with a red tinge and a small tan head. Nose is pretty restrained, with light oats and toasted malt. Flavour is quite restrained as well, with oats and just a hint of the oysters. Smooth on the palate, dry and creamy. Decent but nothing special.

Almost black color, but when seen with a lift behind it a ruby red color can be distinguished. On top of the beer there is s creamy white foam head. The beer looks perfect. The smell is nice, you can smell the roster hops. The taste is also delicious. There are the aromas of perfectly roasted hops and some chocolate tones. After a few sips the smell unveils its hoppy notes. It is brewery perfection.
