Keg at The Porterhouse, Covent Garden, London. Chestnut with thin white head. Excessively expensive for what is a thin, dry, bitter beer. Dull with a cardboard note. Poor.

Cunningham (4292) - Halden, NORWAY - DEC 15, 2013
Appearance: Pitch black color with a fine beige head that leaves a nice lacing.
Aroma: Mild chocolate, roasted malt and coffee.
Palate: Medium body. Tad sweet and a mild bitterness. Average to soft carbonation. Dry texture.
Taste: Rich roasted malt, coffee and mild chocolate.
Overall impression: Lovely tasty porter ehh no stout. Porter on the label listed as stout. This do not help my understanding of what is porter and what is stout. But who cares. Lovely ale. Easy as it seems. Especially at 4,3%.
Personal stats: Bottle from Systembolaget in Strömstad, Sweden.

Nice porter with plenty of coffee and chocolate. A little bit thin in the body lets it down from being a top beer but highly enjoyable nonetheless.

Sample at a Systembolaget tasting. Smell of chocolate and dark bread with some boozy fumes. Fairly mild taste with a chocolaty maltbase. There are better Porters in the regular supply at Systembolaget.

It smells of roasted malt, light bitter. The white milky head is large with a long duration. The body is black. A light bitter taste, a strong taste of roasted malt, very nice! The body is light to medium strong, dry and light creamy with a normal carbonation.

(Bottle). Sweet aroma of butterscotch, malt, sweet licorice and brown sugar. Vaguely sour taste of butterscotch, malt, dried fruit and licorice. Too much flavor of butterscotch.
