We created this beer to celebrate the opening of The Porterhouse in Covent Garden, London, in July 2000. We brewed a traditional style pale ale with a modern interpretation using a single variety of New Zealand hop, the Sticklebract.

UPDATED: MAY 10, 2006 Oct, 2004Porterhouse Covent Garden. Rancid and bitter. A long chewy hop bitterness possibly from over keen dry hopping. Very unpleasant. Red apple in the nose and flavour. Tastes off. [1.8]
July, 2005<a href=http://www.beerintheevening.com/pubs/s/36/366 London A good dusty bitter with lasting bitterness. [2.9]

On tap at the Porterhouse on Nassau street in Dublin. Probably the only dissappointing beer I had from them. Pours a translucent copper brown with a thin white head. Aroma was slight lemon zest and some spice. Flavor was a little weak, very thin malts, citrus zest and spice. Finish was weak and watery. I was expecting a strong English style bitter and got a mild, light beer that missed the mark.

On tap at Porterhouse. Quite eggy taste. Bitter. Sweet, toffee flavour and fruity nonetheless.

Cask at Porterhouse Dublin December 2007. Deep copper color with one finger head with large bubbles that quickly disappears. Decent aroma, some spiciness and malt present. The palate is a little bit watery and sticky. Flavor is okay, but seems a little off balance.

Tap. Smal dead head. Nice brown body. Aroma with nuts and som unidentified sweet rotten smell. A bit too sweet flavour. Nut is dominating but there are hints of fruit. Gets better after a while, though. Ok average finish. (Porterhouse Dublin, 16.03.07)

Cask@PorterHouseLondon. Raisin, molasses, fruits and flowers in the aroma but not in real balance. Amber color, off-white disappearing head, no lace. Light sweet, malty, bitter, bit floral/herbal. Dry finish.

On tap at Porterhouse in Dublin, Ireland. Not a bad beer, but I’m not a huge fan of the style. Probably because I wasn’t used to it as I was visiting from the US. Had the bitter taste and an almost offputting aftertaste. Not a big fan of this one.
