Draught at Porterhouse, Covent Garden, London. Clear deep amber beer with a nice lasting beige head. Malty toffee aroma, fruity, grapes, biscuits, roasted notes, some spices. Malty toffee flavor, caramel, raisins, figs, floral, minerals, creamy, some hoppy bitterness. Quite nice with a fruity floral finish.

Reddish-amber. Rich caramelly nose. Toasty, fresh, with lots of caramel. Body and finish like a New World micro lager, but that’s not a bad thing because it leaves a lot of sugars and caramels for warmth.

ACD (626) - Dublin, IRELAND - DEC 10, 2012
Keg dispense at Porterhouse Temple Bar. Deep mahogany pour with thin off white head & plenty of lacing. Aroma is primarily caramel, slight butterscotch, touch of spice and light roastedness. Taste is big on the caramel, some light fruitiness (plums & red apples), again some sweet butter stuff happening. Sugary Sweet aftertaste. Medium/thin mouthfeel. Not too bad, refreshing Vienna style lager - quite partial to this style so I did enjoy this.

   AROMA 7/10   APPEARANCE 4/5   TASTE 6/10   PALATE 3/5   OVERALL 12/20
pivo (2556) - GERMANY - FEB 5, 2006
Caramelly nose, deep copper brown color, low head. Toffee notes, but some butter in the middle. Crisp end without being bitter. Too much butterscotch, but otherwise an OK brew.

Beershine (5218) - The Sunshine State, Florida, USA - MAR 7, 2011
Draft @ brewery tap, Temple Bar. Clear copper, not much of any head and becomes flat later. Aroma is a touch buttery and caramel with cookie malt. Soft mouthfeel. The malts are biscuity and mouthfeel is oily. Not as refreshing as advertised but still a well-made brew.

I found this idea of a dark lager quite unusual but apparently until 1842 all beers were like this..murky brown colour with very thin head and little aroma. There is a sweetness on the palate possilby dark fruits and a slightly dry finish..interesting
