COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cold filtered and kegged. Also available bottled at 5.7% ABV.
"Made to arecipe originally brewed by Deasy’s of West Cork in the early 1900’s. This was Michael Collins’ favourite tipple - a stout like your gradfather used to drink. A fine fullsome stout, full in every way, a pungent aroma of late kettle hops. A generous quantity of roast grain for flavour, bitter with flaked barley producing that rich body."
Ingredients: Pale Malt, Roast Barley, Black Malt, Flaked Barley; Galena, Nugget and East Kent Goldings hops.

Aroma is one of beer’s most complex features. Aroma is propelled by lively CO2 and dampened by pillowy heads - especially nitrogen foam. Click on a term below to add it to your tasting notes.

Flaska drucken med Petrus. En kraftig välgjord tung stout fylld med rostade smaker i bra balans, bra rund munkänsla. Mycket choklad, rostad malt, måttlig sötma och beska. Bryggeriets bästa jag druckit hittills.

Bottle at Stuu’s. Pours opaque brown with a thin tan head. Aromas of prunes, liquorice. Taste is more of the same, with chocolate notes and soy. Slightly thin.

Casi negra. Dos dedos de espuma beige. Aroma algo agrio. Compleja en boca, muy ahumada. Muy muy seca. Diferente. No me acaba de convencer. Quizás un nuevo intento...

Draft pour at the source. The beer is a dark brown to black with a khaki head. The aroma has chocolate, ash, and some coffee. Taste is sweet and mildly bitter. Medium body and medium carbonation.

On tap at the Porterhouse Bar. Comes almost black with a nice rich creamy khaki head. Aroma of malt and chocolate. Taste is roasted malt, barley, chocolate, and coffee. Finish is somewhat dry with a little bitterness. Nice.

On tap at The Porterhouse, pours jet black with a small brown head. Nose brings out roasted malt and cocoa. Flavour is rich, with lightly roasted malt and dry cocoa. Quite a lovely palate, full of dry cocoa. Silky, thick palate. Very nice stuff.

Dark stout with a creamy dark almond head. The beer smells like a regular stout, roasted barley. The taste confirms this. There is a nice citrusy hop aroma in the finish. The beer has something special, maybe a smoky sensation. Nice.

Origin: Bottle. Vessel: Tulip Glass. Supplier: Porterhouse (Dublin). Fruity taste with dark roasted overtones.
