The Benchmark is our limited-edition, annual release. It is a pale old ale, with a great malt palate, subtle hop presence, and a high gravity (9.9% alc/vol). We brew it once a year, fermenting half with ale yeast and the other with lager yeast. When it’s ready, we blend the two and finish it with Champagne yeast and age it for many months.

Wow, a secret staircase! But what do you do if someone wants non-alcoholic beer?
You know, it’s never come up.

Bomber; 2003 vintage; thanks to brewczar for the trade; pours cloudy orange with trace white head; yeasty, musky aromas of brown sugar and dark fruits; mild oxidation too; lots of sugar, dried apricots and candy malt; a little sweet for me but quite lovely for a 5+ year old brew

My notes said that RiversideAK provided this beer, after4ever says SuzyGreenberg. Thanks to whoever brought it. Cranberry sauce and nutmeg aroma. Hazy mousey brown. Syrupy red fruits and an oaky finish.

22. Thanks, SuzyGreenberg! Murky medium amber with bright caramel highlights. Dense creamy tan foam, but not much of it. Tangy butterscotch and caramel nose. Creamy medium body with plenty of sweetness on the mid-palate. Long sweet and sour finish.

Indra shared this 2003, 22oz bottle at his Strong Ale gathering. Pours a murky brown color. Aroma is aged malt (in a positive way, not too musky or cardboard-y yet), with raisin, and age. Taste has more flavor evaporation from the age but some raisin and lightly cardboard malts. Seems well with this age on it but I would not age it further.

22 oz bottle, 2003 Vintage shared by Indra. Pour is cloudy orange amber, with a 1/2 inch off whitehead. Big thick lacing on the glass. Aroma, really soft and inviting caramel sweetness, malty, wonderful. Taste is malty, caramel, and spicy nutmeg. A bit of oxidation, though held up well overall. Palate is medium, mouth coating - a little cardboard. I enjoyed trying this one.

22oz bottle. 2003 Vintage. Poured a medium orangish color with a larger sized off white head. Initial pours were clear and became hazy and cloudy as I got towards the bottom. Aromas of toasted nuts, wood, caramel, and some dark fruits. Very light oxidation but not detracting. Tastes of caramel, oranges, and some dark fruits. Tastes on the softer side. Alcohol well hidden with the body on the thinner side.
