COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
ZigZag River Lager is an old favorite from the Portland Brewing archives. It’s a clean, easy-drinking golden lager brewed with Nugget and Tettnang hops and a touch of malted wheat to give it a crispness perfect for Portland summers.

Bottle. Lightly hazed dull amber with a short off-white head. Worty aroma of steeped grains with light DMS / carrot / cabbage and potato starches. Light lemon and herb hop profile is dull and lifeless. Medium body, limp and watery finish. Medium to low bitterness, medium sweetness. Simple and raw and sadly the tettnanger are indistinct.

Bottle from the local Costco. Pours a mostly clear light amber color with a moderate off-white head on there. Nose is malt forward, with some grains and light bread notest to it. Taste isn’t too sweet, and ends up being bready with a slight bit of caramel. Better than I expected.

Good, dependable Portland beer. I think it pour pretty in a glass. Lager borders on ale taste.

Bottle: Poured a golden to orange with whispery white head. Aroma is grain. Taste is a nice fresh grain, wheat, and corn.

Medium gold, slight haze, white head. Neutral grainy malt character with a very light touch of caramel, a little floral hop note, medium bodied. Drinkable but pretty one dimensional.

An average lager. Bready/wheaty, slight maltiness, alcohol is a bit noticeable. Somewhat smooth but not too easy to finish for the tongue. Nothing standout.

Nice bread crust malt aroma and flavor, with subtle floral character. Also some not-so-great seaweed-like character. Mild, pleasant bitterness.

Bomber from Made in Oregon. Pours hazy orange gold with a 3 finger foamy off-white head. Aroma is bready with a touch of noble spice. Med body. Flavor is bready/nutty with a little spicy bitter. It’s drinkable.

Draft. Golden beer with a whitish head. Light malt aroma. Light malt and light mineral flavor with toasted malt. Medium bodied. Toasted malt and light mineral lingers.

Clear golden pour one finger head. Aroma of oranges and weedy hops. Tastes honey, bready, herbal hoppy, spicy grain with a sharp edge of bitterness. Seems also a bit harsh in the alcohol. Well balanced between bitter and sweet though & definitely not plying. Slight dryness to the finish also some wheaty mouthfeel and wetness. Complex & refined in flavor but also a bit rough around the edges.
