16oz can. Dark orange color with medium off-white head that leaves a nice lacing. Aroma is rich, fruity, tropical and citrusy. Flavor is very strong, resiny hops, sweet and syrupy, with noticeable alcohol and light malt finish. Similar to Hi-Res and Hopslam. Very good overall.

A hearty imperial, truly representing its name. Bold, gristly, thick...sugary, fruity sweetness takes a back seat on this one. While the aroma upfront is noticeably spicy, woody, and piney, it is gently carried by a balanced ripe citrus body, holistically presenting a richness that is quite enticing. Poured from bomber into shaker, a very pleasant, clear amber. Very appealing head with impressive retention. Decent lacing as well. It has a flavor a lumberjack could truly admire. High notes of relentless pine and earthy spice, vigorously backed by a super-resiny grapefruit bottom-end with tremendous mouthfeel. Overall, an unexpected flavor. Preferring my IIPA’s to have more chewy citrus and floral elements to it, this was a refreshing surprise. The finish may have been too resiny for me, but that doesn’t deter me. Nice balance, pungent as all hell, a foresty experience for sure, with just enough ripe sweetness to leave your lips smacking. Interesting!

Twelve ounce bottle from friend who brought it back from Ohio. Pours a slightly hazed copper orange color with a thin white head. Aroma has alcohol, pineapple, resin and hop notes throughout. Flavor has a good amount of sweetness up front with quite a bit of bitterness in the finish. The alcohol is fairly well pronounced.

Bottle at Lincoln tap house. Slightly off, sweet and bitter, not great. I believe this one might be old. I would like to try it fresh.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, no canning date. Pours very hazy deep orange amber color with a 1-2 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, mango, papaya, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, pine, caramel, toast, biscuit, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice aromas with good complexity of citrus/tropical hops and moderate malt sweetness; with good strength. Taste of big tangerine, grapefruit, mango, pineapple, papaya, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, light pine, caramel, toast, toffee, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness. Fair amount of floral/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of tangerine, grapefruit, mango, pineapple, papaya, lemon zest, orange peel, floral, grass, light pine, caramel, toast, toffee, bread, and floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Nice complexity of citrus/tropical hops with nearly balanced malt sweetness; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-full bodied; with a fairly creamy, smooth, and moderately slick/sticky mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is fairly well hidden with only a light warming present after the finish. Overall this is a nice DIPA. Good complexity of citrus/tropical hops and fairly balanced malt sweetness; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A nicely enjoyable offering.

Tall boy can from Heinens. Copper orange with head and lace. Chewy citrus and pine and creamsicle aroma. Medium sweet toffee and orange creamsicle with sticky orangy hops and a little resinous hop lingering with orangy sweetness. Full body. Effervescent. I prefer dry highly atttenuated lighter bodied DIPAs but this is still very good.

Aroma is good, caramel notes and pineapple citrus nose from the hops. Good color and clarity approx 6 srm. Good white frothy head that lasts. Flavor is sweet pineapple and stone fruit and light caramel notes from the grain, followed by warm boozyiness. Bitterness is not harsh but hangs for awhile. Sweetness overrides any astringency that may be present. No off flavors present, yet some may perceive a light diacytl due to caramel sweetness. Overall impression is that this is a good beer but finishing gravity may be a little high, comes off a little to sweet and warm taking away from its drinkability..... Of course at 9.6% you won't be able to drink to many anyways! Love the hop choices! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
