A reddish copper ale with a very thin off white head. In aroma, sweet cherry malt with light lactic acid and lemony notes, cherry cough drop, OK. In mouth, a sweet cherry malt with light lactic notes, candy sugar, a bit sweet but still OK. #OttBottShare.

Bottle sample (April, 2011, from notes). Pours a slightly hazy copper color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor are sour, acidic, metallic, some cherry, vinegar notes. Thinner body, harsh flavor. Really hard to drink.

On tap at KTG day, prior to 11:37 a.m. A: Almost flat, burnt sienna color, very little head, little to no lace S: Sourness, wine, subtle tart cherries T: The tart cherries are more evident in the taste than in the nose. This is an acidic beer the whole way through. There is a lack of depth and complexity in this brew. Iím searching for more, but itís just not there. The acidity is gaining strength as I continue. This should be a lot easier to drink and enjoy, especially at just 4.5% M: low carbonation, with a vinegar-like acidic finish D: Iím glad I tried it. Not my favorite Flanders, for sure.

Portsmouth Flanders. 22oz bottle thanks to alex for knocking out a major want! haha... Pours a medium caramel hue with lighter edges and topped with a white frothy white head... Cherry and cheesecake, a fair bit hemical but no too much... Flavors are semi-sharp Iím nature with a metallic backing which takes away from it. Still semi-tart cherry with off-notes. Thin bodied and didnít offer up much more than that. gosh, kind of reminds me of some of those unrefined/under-developed arbor sours. 6/3/5/3/10

22 oz bottle shared at Kanís. Thanks! Pours a nice copper hue, light haze, with a big frothy cakey tannish head. Aromas are rust and metal, touches of sweet toffee, biscuits, and cherries. A bit sharp. Initial is lighter bodied with a sharp bite up front, sour cherries and lactic acid, rich minerally metal, touches of rust. Light sharp sourness. Touches of raisins, cherries, sharp sour and metal notes. Finish is lactic sour, touches of vinegar, dark fruit, and biscuity malts. Interesting, not my thing in the sour world. A bit harsh, watery body, some sharp lactic notes. Meh.

Alex - who else... a clear reddish brown with a light tan head... sour oak with some lactic notes, nothing of note really... the taste at first is just sour, the finish is horrendous, tastes like nail polish remover... just terrible, not much else to say here

Bottle from goodgrief/doulos. Pour was murky red brown. Thin tan to light brown head. Aroma was acetic vinegar with some cranberries and oak. Decent. Flavor was rough, lacked malty anything other than some barley bite. Acidic with wicked astringency, acetic almost rancidness. Mouthfeel acidic and thin. Not a great example of the style but I like the style so much, Iíd have another. Thanks, Tom, for the opportunity, quite dedicated to your hobby and buddy hauling bottles through airports these days!

Reviewed from notes. Pours a reddish-brown color with a slight off-white head. The nose is a bit of oak along with cherry and some mild malt. Good acetic character and some definite sourness. The taste is cherries, oak, slight malt, as well as lactic and acetic sourness. Good feel and nice sour character. Drinks fairly well but is a bit one dimensional.
