A "ginger" in every sense of the word! An American red IPA that has the addition of real, freshly shredded ginger to spice it up a wee bit! This firkin was dry-hopped with El Dorado, a new, high alpha, hop.

From a bottle from the brewery. Pours hazy medium brown with lots of particles floating around and a foamy frothy beige head. Tastes like ginger, dry spice, floral sweetness, and light hop bitterness. Light body and low/medium carbonation. Smells like ginger, malty, nutty hops.

Bottle. Pours cloudy honey brown with frothy off-white head. Aroma is grassy and floral hops, biscuit and cereal malts, caramel, light pear, light pineapple, and faint pine. Flavor is chewy malts, caramel sweetness, fresh citrus and pine hop bitterness, and light tropical fruit esters; dry finish with faint bitterness. Medium body and carbonation.

I enjoyed this quite a bit. Nice ginger and lemon base with a good bitterness to help balance out the spice and lemon notes. Flavor is high and interesting. Not sure how much of this i could drink but i like it.

On draft at brewery, the ginger is there and it sort of works like a gruit beer . Sweet and flavorful

Draft @ the brew pub. Copper in color with lasting soapy head. Aroma is mostly piney hops with an undertone of ginger. For me the flavor is just the opposite as the aroma. Strong notes of ginger with the pine hop a light note with maybe just a hint of citrus in the finish. Medium in body with correct level of carbonation. If you enjoy ginger root you should really like this IPA.

(Rating #5106)

Location: Draft at the Brewpub, 7/12/13

Aroma: The nose is unsurprisingly ginger and hops, mostly pine and a bit of citrus
Appearance: The pour is copper in color with some off-white colored head
Flavor: The taste is similar to the nose, with the ginger and hops being the dominant flavors
Palate: The body is medium, it has decent drinkability, and a somewhat dry finish on the mouth
Overall Impression: I found this to be a pretty solid beer. The ginger is certainly noticeable, and it pairs pretty nicely with the hop flavors. One of the better things I tried at Portsmouth.

Draught @ Brewpub. This one pours a clear, coppery amber color. There was a bit of a frothy white head on it that left lots of lacing. Nice nose. There is a big shot of piney hops, with a little bit of ginger in there too. The taste is very good. Piney hops, with a fair amount of ginger. Good malt body behind it. An interesting and nice variation of an IPA.

New recipe from new head brewer, Tyler Jones. Pours a coppery tang with a fluffy off-white head about a finger or two in length. Definitely get hops, Carared malt, spice, wet tobacco on both the mouth and nose; however ginger was only truly prominent on the nose which of coure disappointed. Seawater-saltiness by swallow.

Amber with a small off-white head. Aroma of ginger, peach and pine,. Sweetish fruity flavour with ginger notes and a pine hoppy finish
